I recently moved from PA to NJ. I registered my car at a NJ DMV office. They told that i have to have my car inspected within 14 days and gave a pink colored form.

I drove straight to the inspection office as it was a saturday and I have nothing else to do.

The inspector pulled my car and asked for all documents. He did not say me anything and took the car and inspected it.

fidnally, he marked my car as "Failed" only becuase of the reason that "I did not have a NJ State Insurance Card". What the hell is this? Had he told me that I cannot run the inspection without NJ insurance identification card, I would have came back without spending the time there.

Later, I took an NJ insurance and then had my car pass the inspection.

Why do not the few authorities behave as humans instead of computers? I am only speaking about the few authorities and not all of them.

I think they need little more traning. But can the pain that I underwant be compensated by the DMV?

Welcome to NJ. You are lucky that the DMV is much better than it used to be. If only you knew. Yes, they could have told you, but who drives around without proof of car insurance and registration on them? It's a huge fine in NJ in case you didn't know as in several hundred dollars.

Good Luck trying to get compensated by the DMV. Consider it a lesson learned and move on enjoying your car!

welcome to NJ. Although yes, try and keep proof of insurance and registration on you all the time otherwise the authorities can get pretty antsy. Anyway, you will have zero luck getting reimbursed by anyone in NJ.
