Sue's nephew noticed this yesterday while Sue was visiting her folks up in Troy, Michigan.

I caught up with her today in Plymouth, Mi. and saw for myself.

The outer lense is intact, but the individual lense for the headlight is broken and just laying there.

Anybody out there have a leftside headlight assembly for a 99 (clear turn signal and no chrome rings)?

Couldn't take the G's.

Heat and vibration probably did it, if the outer cover isn't penetrated.

Took the car over and showed this to the service manager today, they'll fix it under "good will" warranty (3 to 6 month period after original warranty expired). Worst case is BMW will only cover 75% of the cost, he'll try to get the whole thing covered.

Twenty-five percent of the warranty cost is a lot cheaper than 100% of retail price for a new headlight assembly. I'm okay with that.

little known fact that they cover many cracked fog lights too; they fracture when hot and getting water from a puddle, etc. splashed up on them
