I'm going to buy a new cell phone

LG enV2 (http://www.amazon.com/LG-enV2-Maroon-Verizon-Wireless/dp/B00192AW88/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=wireless&qid=1217362831&sr=1-2)

Is the linked cell phone compatible with the BMW bluetooth? My current LG Chocolate phone is fully compatible even though it is not listed on the compatible chart from BMW Wireless. Thanks for reading.

My LG Shine did not link up well at all. Did not carry over any addresses, and usually does not link up with the car at all. But I see other LG's have worked so maybe the one your looking at will also.

bold does look nice (I have an 8800 that I have as a spare)... and the new bold addresses most of the things I disliked about the 8800 (screen quality, lack of 3G and Wifi)...however, it still will have a major problem - no internal memory. If you have tried to stream movies and films off of a blackberry than you know what the issue is (move the phone at all and the movie stops working for some reason).

Also--- the music player sucks... where are the normal headphone hook ups and there is no dedicated store or anything - as a multimedia device- a blackberry doesn't stand up to an Iphone (the iphone is a multimedia monster- movies look clear and completely watchable--- it looks like sex (flat, no buttons) and has the app support it needs- only issue - no bluetooth mp3 streaming and can't for some odd reason copy and paste things (major problem that they are too lazy to fix) - also the camera is a joke.

The bold will do well as a better blackberry but b/c of the wheel- i will still make viewing websites cumbersome (can't just point and click ...our touch).

But overall- best phone available is a Nokia N95--- it's 3g, has 8 gigs, plays movies, has a radio, has all the apps and games, has turn by turn gps, has wifi, has a very easy auto text, can take DVD quality film (which is just sick), has a 5 mp camera and has the apps to work on the picturs i nthe phone - it's better than an Iphone but doesn't look as good.

Had a BB Curve 8310 (great road warrior phone IMHO) but hated the email formatting (even a 3rd party HTML program didn't help much) along with a crappy browser, no 3G and/or no wi-fi. When Apple announced full Exchange support for the iPhone, I took the plunge and got a 3G 16GB model. Yes, it's got some issues (none a deal breaker for me yet) but overall, I love it. $0.02.

I agree N95 is way better than iphone. But I am getting the Bold for the "push" email and the qwerty keyboard. Iphone is a toy ipod, not a smartphone, you don't even have a landscape keyboard withouth jailbreaking the phone and voiding warranty. No MMS, no video recording, no copy/paste, no flash, no autofocus, no turn by turn gps.

I am wating for the Bold.

OS 4.5 has HTML email support, I am using it now, it's perfect. Can't say the same for a MobileMe fiasco, apple should just stick with MP3 players :p

Nokia's Symbian Sucks. I have a N82.

Honestly, I think the N82 blows the N95 out of the water with the Xenon flash. My sis has a N95 and my phone just kills hers in pics. Though, I'm getting the SE C905 when it comes out. Tired of all the phone restarts. If you want a Nokia, make sure it has Java and not Symbian. My N82 has been nothing but problems for me. I've owned 5 in the past 3 years. Nokia's slipping.

My Env 2 sync'd with the BT immediately and uploaded the phone book with no problems. Call quality is excellent, and battery life is great.

You are going to be very surprised with the Bold, the screen quality is superior to the iPhone, mainly due to the fact that it has the same resolution in a denser screen, the result is simply outstanding. As far as memory, with the Bold you get 1GB of internal media memory + the support for micro SD of up to 16GB.

The browser and the multimedia capabilities of the browser are the two biggest improvements; the support for AJAX on the browser really shows in the rendering quality of the webpage, you can now see the actual webpage as opposed to the traditional column view (which is still there). As far as media goes the support of RTSP and progressive download + streaming packs as much as I would need in a mobile browser.

It's true that the iPhone is a multimedia monster but BlackBerry devices are built for security, network efficiency and battery life and for that purpose the iPhone doesn't hold a candle to BlackBerry devices.

As far as 3G goes, get your hopes down in a hurry, 3G is the US market is well underdeveloped, expect very low speed increases (it's supposed to be 6-10 times faster, it's no where near that at this point... will take 1-2 years to get there) and more importantly the handoffs to 2G networks are horrible so expect a ton of dropped calls.

Again if you are looking to have a multimedia experience than the iPhone will probably do, too bad the battery life sucks, however if you want the best overall phone experience with great battery life (1500MAm removable battery) and security is important to you (more so if under a BES server) than the Bold is for you and as a bonus you get the best screen on the market.... as a bonus, the pairing and functionality with the BMW BT works flawlessly.

You're not joking. AT&T's 3G network blows and the iPhone will hang onto a horrible 3G signal rather than drop automatically for a much better EDGE. I (like many others apparently) have just disabled 3G 99% of the time unless I need fast data, have a decent signal and am no where near a hotspot. If you get a strong 3G signal, yes it works well. But good luck!

Here is the link to a review comparing the iPhone and the Bold. However, I think this is like comparing apples to blackberries as the phones probably appeal to different market segments, with some overlap. One thing I have noticed is the raves about the Bold screen. However, it is significantly smaller than that on the iPhone (which is quite sharp) and perhaps not as enjoyable for viewing full-length films. In addition, it is reported to be plastic, and very prone to scratches. I should note that I have neither one, and am quite happy with my LG Voyager.

* The screen is crisper, I agree with you on the fact that movies can be more enjoyable on bigger screens; however the screen is very crisp on the Bold.

* It is indeed plastic, but there's a reason for that, that thing has 2G, 3G, WiFi (a,b,g) and GPS radios.... getting metal anywhere in the device is a no no...

* it's also that they are apples to blackberries (i like that comparison) however at the end of the day they are both smart phones and as such the Bold beats the iPhone in every category except Multimedia, but the gap has been narrowed.

If the iPhone shrank its screen size to that of the Bold, it would seem as crisp. But the iPhone screen is crisp enough as it is.

The iPhone screen is scratch-resistant glass, not scratch-prone plastic, or metal.

What do you mean by every category? And with the open programming now on the iPhone, the gap in those "categories" will probably be narrowed too. Apple is not standing still.

Alright- as owner of both an 8800 blackberry and an Iphone (although the bold will be a different design- lets just keep things relative though) - If the screen is the same size of that or nearly the same size as the regular black berry--- a movie will look like crap. I have Superbad on my 8800--- too damn small to make a difference. The wide screen is what makes the iphone a much better visual media device- the screen is crisp - coloring is alright (it's in the millions, but they say that there is better out there) --- i have watched many movies on it and have seen everything.. it's perfect for trips or even going places with no tv - the iphone is there for you...holding you... caring for you- telling you.. hey, buddy...I'm here for ya.

SPEAKER QUALITY - blackberry hands down - the iphone's new speaker gives better quality but it's still crap - the blackberry is simply loud and you can here things ...you NEED to hear your phone and ppl on speaker... this is what a phone is all about.

Screen quality again - scratch resistent..yes to an extent - I have two scratches on my iphone's screen, but other than that- it's fine.

Again, I think a huge area where the blackberry will fall down is the trackball- unless they turned that thing into a pointer and allow it to roam freely on the screen - it's going to take 20 mins just to get to something that takes 2 mins to get to on the iphone.

In regards to a keyboard - I always like the blackberry better- you can FEEL the keyboard and thus, you don't need to look at it all of the time to type unlike the iphone. In regard to getting the full keyboard...some complain but after you learn how to type on an iphone, it's only a hair longer than typing on a regular blackberry.

GPS and turn by turn is coming to the new iphone too and the APPS keep reinventing the ******-- just when you thought it could take calls, view the internet on wifi or 3g, listen to music, listen to streaming radio, gps, wait - no... it also acts as a G-tech device that you can use to test the performance of your car. Someone mentioned that it didn't have a voice recorder --- wrong, it has over 5 different voice recording apps now...and THIS is the biggest difference with the I******-- it is now pretty much wide open for innovation.

The limits of the iphone aren't reached yet- with most phones- what you see is what you get. Iphone - now a video game phone, voice recorder, gtech device, radio player is just more than the sum of its initial parts - it has the software to keep reinventing itself. ...just wait until they make an app to make it a tv remote control--- it will be OVER.

The whole BES and battery story.. to sum it up.

* Most secure solution in the market AND the only solution approved by the Federal Government. Now when I say secure the iPhone is not even on the same league.

* Controls and IT Policy, you can literally control every feature in every single way you can imagine on BlackBerry....

* The iPhone uses an average of 4 MB a day, The BlackBerry uses that a month.... not everyone has unlimited international data roaming....

* The BlackBerry is an enterprise solution.... it's offered with over 300 carriers, not just ATT

* MobileMe is a joke compared to BlackBerry ISV's... of course the normal consumer doesn’t even care about this.

* Battery anyone? are you joking releasing a device that gives you 5 hrs with GPS/3G and WiFi turned on?? Bold gives you a whole day as a heavy user..... without good battery life, the device becomes a pretty paper weight..... Not to mention that you can remove the battery on the iPhone... how do they get away with that?

* Phone quality, processing speed, manageability, scalability, durability ...... i think I've covered all the categories.....

I must say, hats off to the iPhone's browser and multimedia experience, but the Bold's new browser really narrows the gap.

You're talking about a business phone... blackberry is great for business ...but it's not a nearly the total package that the iphone is. And to that point- play a movie on a blackberry 8800 and we will see how long someone will prefer that opposed to viewing one on an iphone. When I want to hook up my phone as an mp3 player to my car - I will choose an iphone over a blackberry any day of the week.

Business wise- iphone doesn't make sense (it more of a multimedia device that happens to be a phone) ...but in the idea that it can make calls and has some pretty trick phone things and then it does the rest-makes it one of the better phones on the market. Tell me when blackberry will be able to stream a movie in multiple formats or act as a gtech device? it won't. The full wide screen keyboard is a software update away... (to me -- that's not a big deal).. but that's the difference. Apple can update the phone to no end and fix any problem with it to make it compete.

Well that's the whole point I'm trying to make about the Bold..... not the 8800.... The Bold is night and day with other BlackBerry devices on the market. 4.6 HH code has raised the bar on Browsing (brand new engine, completely redesigned) and the media capabilities are awesome as well..... Simply put the movie play back is BETTER than the iPhone, the one thing the iPhone has going for is the screen size, which evens things out. As far as browsers go, prior to to the Bold, the iPhone was a 80% better, with the new 4.6 Browser it's still better but maybe by 10%-20% at most...

RIM is actually improving it's consumer like features to compete with iPhone...

And Apple is improving its business-like features to compete with RIM. But as I said previously, these phones are really intended for different market segments, and serve them well. I think that people are arguing about the small area of overlap. Also, I have noticed repeatedly on this website that guys just like to argue, period.
