Got 2 tickets.
1 - Tinted windows
2 - Tinted tail lights
Even though I had my reflectors not tinted (i been online all night trying to read on the CA law to see if I can have my tail light tinted but not touching my red/clear backup reflectors). Damn CHP he was hiding behind the on ramp entrance to the highway, I did floor it a little bit on the onramp nothing over speed limit but my exhaust sound (Magnaflows) is what might have attracted him and then ticketed me for those two things (I saw him on my rear view moving from a standstill THEN I knew I was going to get pulled over 15 seconds later he passes couple cars behind me and turns his lights on

lol damn that sucks! wait why can't u have tinted windows? did you tint the front too? didn't know that tinting the lights was illegal. does that mean you have to get them sanded down and clear coated again?

That's what I'm trying to figure out, I thought tinting the lights and leaving the reflectors red and clear ones not tinted will be okay as long as its not effecting the bake light output. I'm not exactly sure... :(
EDIT: It's not even a fixing ticket.

Here's the laws I found regarding it:
Modification of Vehicle Equipment
26101. No person shall sell or offer for sale for use upon or as part of the equipment of a vehicle, nor shall any person use upon a vehicle, any device that is intended to modify the original design or performance of any lighting equipment, safety glazing material, or other device, unless the modifying device meets the provisions of Section 26104. This section does not apply to a taillamp or stop lamp in use on or prior to December 1, 1935, or to lamps installed on authorized emergency vehicles.
So from what I understand I can't have a different type of lighting output but doesnt say anything about tinting the outside enclosure of the light that's not changing design nor changing the lightning output (Very nominal, since tint is medium).
Color of Lamps and Reflectors
25950.**This section applies to the color of lamps and to any reflector exhibiting or reflecting perceptible light of 0.05 candela or more per foot-candle of incident illumination. Unless provided otherwise, the color of lamps and reflectors upon a vehicle shall be as follows:
(c)All lamps and reflectors visible from the front, sides, or rear of a vehicle, except headlamps, may have any unlighted color, provided the emitted light from all lamps or reflected light from all reflectors complies with the required color. Except for backup lamps, the entire effective projected luminous area of lamps visible from the rear or mounted on the sides near the rear of a vehicle shall be covered by an inner lens of the required color when the unlighted color differs from the required emitted light color. Taillamps, stoplamps, and turn signal lamps that are visible to the rear may be white when unlighted on vehicles manufactured before January 1, 1974.
So it says here I can have my my tailless any color as long as my lightning output still is red is unaffected and that my reflecters for red and clear are unaltered which they are not.
Taillamps
24600.**During darkness every motor vehicle which is not in combination with any other vehicle and every vehicle at the end of a combination of vehicles shall be equipped with lighted taillamps mounted on the rear as follows:
(a) Every vehicle shall be equipped with one or more tail lamps.
(b) Every vehicle, other than a motorcycle, manufactured and first registered on or after January 1, 1958, shall be equipped with not less than two tail lamps, except that trailers and semitrailers manufactured after July 23, 1973, which are less than 30 inches wide, may be equipped with one tail lamp which shall be mounted at or near the vertical center line of the vehicles. If a vehicle is equipped with two taillamps, they shall be mounted as specified in subdivision (d).
(c) Every vehicle or vehicle at the end of a combination of vehicles, subject to subdivision (a) of Section 22406 shall be equipped with not less than two tail lamps.
(d) When two taillamps are required, at least one shall be mounted at the left and one at the right side respectively at the same level.
(e) Taillamps shall be red in color and shall be plainly visible from all distances within 500 feet to the rear except that tail lamps on vehicles manufactured after January 1, 1969, shall be plainly visible from all distances within 1,000 feet to the rear.
(f) Taillamps on vehicles manufactured on or after January 1, 1969, shall be mounted not lower than 15 inches nor higher than 72 inches, except that a tow truck, in addition to being equipped with the required taillamps, may also be equipped with two tail lamps which may be mounted not lower than 15 inches nor higher than the maximum allowable vehicle height and as far forward as the rearmost portion of the driver's seat in the rearmost position. The additional tail lamps on a tow truck shall be lighted whenever the headlamps are lighted.
So all my tail lamps have to be visible with the way I have them up to 1000 feet then I'm okay?
Anyone have or know the rules around tinting tail lamps?

Dude, I am in CT, the day I took my car to the DMV the inspector said that tinting windows was illegal in CT unless it comes installed from the manufacturer and that I should take it off. Needless to say, I did'nt....I see tons of cars with tinted windows and tinted tail lights....which I think is illegal as well. I think it was just sheer bad luck that you got pulled over but with a hot car like yours and the "magnaflow" exhausts...you do attract unnecessary and undivided attention .....I am sure you can fight the ticket! so, take the printouts and head over to court if you have that kind of time...

Sounds to me like the CHP assumed you were speeding, went after you, couldn't nail you on the radar or timing bacuase you weren't speeding, was annoyed, wrote you up on anything he/she could find (my speculation of course).
Also, from what you wrote, it sounded like the tail lights cannot be modified from the original design. I personally would read this as the color/shade of the light which if tinted would be a violation. But again, that's why we have lawyers to argue the interpretations :)

Same thing happened to me in D.C. back in `96 when I was driving a `94 SC400 and was stopped for "speeding" (a/k/a "driving while Black") by police. I was not issued a speeding ticket, but I was fined $250 for not having my insurance card.

i can't even count how many tint tickets i've gotten (i always take em off and put em back on). i've gotten one ticket for taillights on my caddy cts and they were painted. :tsk: i didn't want to redo them or pay for new lights so luckily my friend had the same car (stock) so we switched the lights for a day and i got it signed off at the CHP. Put my tinted tails right back on the same day :D
i would suggest this if you know someone who has stock tails on a 6.
is it not a fix it ticket?

Just the 3 passengers and the driver side, the thing is I had my window down and when the cop was ticketing me for the tail lamps he said to raise my windows up and BAM another ticket. I'm just ganna pay the fine and just drive cautiously it's not a fixing ticket so ill have to go to court and pay the fine, unless you guys think its worth fighting it...

I don't see why you are  over this. They are both illegal. Not legal in California to tint the front windows on a car. You can paint the others with black paint if you want as long as you have right and left mirrors.
You said your self that you altered the light 'Very nominal, since tint is medium', so as to render them illegal.
Again, what is the  for? The CHP for doing their job, or yourself for doing the Mod?

I'm  because I did those tail lights thinking that I will be OK with the reflectors untinted, I was wrong!. Anyways this Saturday I'm getting my car lowered and putting my rims at my friends shop talked to him about my situation he laughed a bit since I just got my car not too long ago, he's going to remove the tail light paint for me  Lesson learned. But it's a stupid law if you ask me! no safety issue at all since light output is practically the same. Oh well. :dunno:

Exactly! :D if it weren't for my tinted tail lights I would never have been ticketed for the front tinted windows which I never got ticked for them unless they stop me for some other reason. I believe removing those tail light paint will be a once and for all thing but my windows are staying! as I usually drive them down if they are up I'm checking my side mirrors and rear for on a lookout for Five-O :)

quite frankly, i'm almost 100% certain that when you tinted those front windows, and smoked those tail lights, you knew it was against the law... if i'm right, then my friend, you really have no reason to be pissed off... the officer was just doing his job, regardless of how you look at it...
before you think the thought of flaming me, let me say this... i have tinted the front windows of all cars i have owned. my previous car had 5% all around, my bimmer currently has 20% all around... i havn't been pulled over, nor harrassed by the cops... often i will drive by chp, or even local cruisers, and not get pulled over... i truly believe your driving style makes a differance... if you're minding your own business in the right hand lane, they usually will almost always leave you alone... if you're in the left lane flying by traffic, well, you know the drill...

No the CHP said it's not fixable (The ticket has the fixable part at no circled. He said I would go to the court at the time written on the ticket and pay the fine. Is this normal? From what I hear is if I show the court I fixed the issue they will lower it or throw the fine out.

Lucardes, it doesn't hurt to 'throw yourself on the mercy of the court', fines are often reduced. It happened for me with an exhibition of speed ticket in my youth. It didn't get it off my driving record but it did lower the fine a ton. The rub is, ya gotta take the time to see the judge. What is your time worth if you have to take 1/2 day off for court? The infractions will have to be corrected for sure and signed off by someone (the judge isn't gonna go look or take your word). That being said, you can probably get them signed off and just pay the fine anytime prior to the date on the ticket at the court clerk or where ever you pay such fines. I don't think they are moving violations that mean a point on your record. Find out what the fine is and if it goes against your record and figure which is cheaper for you. Good Luck and let us know how it turns out.

Thanks man,
This is what I know. It doesn't go in my record, regarding the fine it's up to the judge on what the fine is I asked CHP I called them they said it's up to the judge. Regarding correctable that's not an option since the CHP circled 'No' for correctable meaning it's not a fixing ticket. basically a fine, so I guess removing them or not doesn't matter to the judge all that matter to them is I plead guilty and pay the fine or plead not guilty and fight it (Which is not the route im going for). It's weird because my other previous tint ticket before this was correctable, just paid the $10 correctable fee. So I don't know what makes the ticket be correctable or not...

Well, I would do this...
The only reason you'd have to go to court is to sweet talk the DA to lower the fines or ask for monthly payments where they charge you a 25.00-35.00 fee (no higher than 35.00) to do so. DAs are there to make money, make deals. They'll do everything they can do to prevent you from going to trial because there is always a chance the cop won't show up.
I'd imagine you have 60 days til the trial date, wait for the mail to come in with specific info on the trial and stuff. If I were you, and feel like there isn't really much of a chance to win, do a Trial By Declaration. Its basically a trial over the mail. The backdraw is you have to pay in advance, which I find you'll most likely end up paying the fine anyway if you don't fight it.
In your case it looks like 50/50 chance. Better than 0 chance.
Just write up a statement of facts on why you think the ticket isn't fair that its not a fix-it ticket. They still have to get the cop's side of the story anyway and there is more of a chance he won't respond to it than not show up to court.

Just fix it and go to your nearest police station and tell them its fixed. This has to be a fixable violation, it makes no sense because your not selling it. And if they don't take it, do a TBD as soon as you get the paper with the bail amount, plead Not Guilt say the offer was dumbass in an intelligent manner hope you win... I am a NOPD Police officer. I know myself HP can be a pain in the ass about tint. The easy way of getting out of that window tint ticket, is to take pictures of another 6 like yours and your plate. I am sure someone here can photoshop your plate on their 6. Go to court and show the judge that you removed all the tint from the car. No more fine. Do the same for the tail lights. The judge will throw the tickets out. Ricers do it all the time and get away:)

Actually what you do is plead "no contest with opportunity to explain". That basically means that you plead neither guilty or non-guilty but you don't contest the allegations against you. At that point you are given the opportunity to explain your case to the judge. basically, you are under his/her mercy. if you plead non-guilty you'll have to go to a trial. don't know if they do it right there and then but usually they set up another court date for that and then it depends if you go jury or non-jury trial. if you are inclined to do non-jury trial then you might as well just do the no contest bc it'll pretty much have the same outcome. jury trial isn't worth the hassle!
PS: if you have a female judge try being a lil witty or flirty (no matter how ugly she is) got me out of tons of tickets so far:D u'd b amazed how little they have to smile about in there and if you can make her smile she'll dismiss it. oh and dress nice! suit and tie preferrably.

Here in South Florida, the guy in front of you is always the 17 YO who has his 59th speeding ticket, has no personality AND wore an old T-Shirt and shorts to court.
When you go to court:
1) Dress well - noone else does. It will make you stand out.
2) When your name is called by the judge, "Good Morning your honor" (noone else does)
3) Make eye contact and be personable (noone else is...)
The judge hates his/her job when the day is full of riff-raff who don't talk and don't respect the law. Stand out, and you'll get a slap on the wrist.
Good luck.

Listen to me. Do what I told you. Everyone is putting in their input but they don't know anything. The judge is not going to push that court date back if you show those pictures. Plead no contest and your ass is paying that fine! If you didnt want to P/S the pics you could plead not guilty and just keep pleading not guilty. They will keep pushing you court date back. This will last about 4 times and then they will just throw it out.

1. You are royally F'ed for forging evidence (felony = automatic jailtime)
2. Will never get a licence again and ergo can sell the 6 and won't have to bother about ever getting a car again.
Very high risk. I wouldn't do it.
