Spent the last week at a class on one of the Azores Islands (for the geographically impared, go to Lisbon, Protugal and go 900 miles west into the Alantic). My rental car for that week was a Renault Megane four door just like this one...:thumbdwn:

That car added to the cobble stone/crappy pavement on the island led to a week of automotive misery.

Now I am back in my baby and able to drive...:str8pimpi Can I just tell you all that even after nearly 5 years of ownership I REALLY LOVE to drive my car as much as I did the day I brought it home...

Think how much you would have had if you could have rented a BMW instead of that Megane. Of course, a rental BMW probably would have been a 318....

Oh, yeah! Bavarian Princess in the house! Yay!

Even though I've only had one short experience - yep, when you have to have your baby in to be worked on or you have to be parted from it due to travel and you have to drive something else (especially if it's a non Bayerische Motoren Werke product) - when you get your baby back - aaaahhhhh!

It's just having your car back that makes the difference!

I hope you and the Bavarian Princess will not have to be parted for a looooong time! Karl Bimmer is coming up to the 15K mark, and will be having oil change, etc - hmm, do you think I'd get a M5 as a loaner? :beerchug:

Most folks can't even get a test drive in an M5, let alone a loaner!

The island I was on covers only ~150 sq. mi. I was luck to get a car the size of the Megane! 75% of the cars available to rent were Nissan Micra's or some little Daewoo. The island didn't even have a BMW dealership...closest is would be on the largest island in the chain and that is a 5-hour ferry ride away!:yikes:

Either way, I wouldn't want a BMW on that island...there isn't road capable of handeling the speed and the cobblestones/dirt/broken pavement roads would probably cause me to shatter a couple of teeth. BMW's are forgiving...but not that much!:)
