Be nice.
It was a reasonable comment. Both are 316i, one heavier than the other  Besides, check out my ridiculous post count, you don't get there without voicing opinions on everything

It's not the wrong car, I was just having some fun with you. I'm an E30 nut so my opinions are biased. Enjoy your new car

The e36 is indeed heavier and slower than an e30 - and has slightly less exciting handling. However, it still offers much better handling than most competitors cars and has considerably updated styling, interiour, safety features, gas mileage etc than the e30.
The mistake you have made is buying a 316. You should have got 6 cylinders for the proper BMW experience.

It's an awsome card, not quite the "drivers" car that the e30 is, but its a good car, I dont think you went wrong.
Yeah your post count is impressive. lol

lol ... thanks Matt and big tex.....
u have no idea how much i was worried about the choice i made,,,
about the 6 cylender engine Matt,, i wish i had enough cash to get one ,,
this one i got it for $4000 with quite low milage low milage ( I WILL POST PICTURE TOMMOROW )
but im thinking of adding an open air intake ,, plus a supercharger ,, to boost the car HP up ,,,
will that be effective or u think its better if i get a 6 cylender engine instead ( if it was affordable) big tex what do u think ?
??

Any supercharger worth putting on your car is going to cost several thousand dollars and then some for installation.
If you want performance it is definitely going to be cheaper and easier to just buy one of the bigger engined models.
If you just like the look of the car and don't care about the performance then forget about it and just enjoy your 316 for what it is.
PS: is it auto or manual?

I have a 316i too. I get enough out of it to do me and i'm not going to be able to afford he insurance on anything else just now. UK insurance = :thumbdwn: . I enjoy the driving comfort and if im gona get insurance i can afford on a 1.6 car, i'd rater it be a bmw than anything else.

Man, to be honest I'd leave the engine naturally aspirated, (dont super charge) just put money into the suspension, and you car can out handle just about anything out there. Maybe chip it down the road, but remember, make it handle better than you can drive before you add HP. But thats just me.

its a automatic ,,, but i bough it with a manual gear for free to replace.
hell maaaan i do care about the performance:smokin: ..... once any veiachle cross over me in the street i cant tell u what starts to go on in my mind :violent:... ( I HAVE TO TAKE REVENGE ) most of my driving times r just like racing
though big tex really was convincing in what he said .,,, supercharging is damn expesive...
i would better focs on handling ,,
but the BIGGER ENGINE idea is tickling me from now on,,, insureance is not a problem
the problem is petrol ---- heere we have 1 liter of petrol for $1.98
and thats a total pain in the asssss ...
TO BE HONEST ,,,,,YOU GUYS ARE THE BEST ... couple of hours ago i was like lost ,,
THAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAANKS ALLOT .. anymore ??

basically what they said, the e36 looks more redefined, and also has a larger cabin. you cant go wrong with an e30 or e36, unless its auto.
Honestly, there's nothing really special about e36...ANYMORE, for its time it was special but now, its ho-hum.

tex makes a good point, and for that much money; you could upgrade your motor size and your car's aesthetics..... buy an M. same body style as what you got, but much faster than the 30's, plus you have a six cylinder to improve on instead of the four. The price of supercharging plus installation will cost you more than the e36 M3 will once you sell the 1.6 you got. Good Luck

mate what u r saying sounds great ,,, full effciency ,,
and thats exactly what im thinking about ,, a 6 cylender engine ,,
one thing im concerned about is the extra petrol that the 6 cc engine will be burning ,,
cause wer i live the petrol is quite expensive ,, 1 liter for $1.97 ,, (rising price)
but defenetly iam not going to stay on that 1.6 engine ,,
btw ,,, what is the engine u have? and wat do u think about it?

ive never driven the 4 cylinder models, but i own a 325 and my friend owns a 328. the 328 is obviously faster, but the noise my engine makes at 6400-6600 revs is amazing, and i didnt get that out of the 328.

+1 325 is an impressive 6 cylinder, not quite the 328, but still nice.
I love driving in traffic/twisties, I have an auto tranny, and in sport mode around 60 mph up to 120 mph it pulls and that sound is awsome.

I see you are from Bethlehem but witch one of the many out there. I get the feel you are on the other side of the "pond " from me but there is a Bethlehem about 20 min's north of me and just wondering.
As for the hype of the e36 timeless style, handles well and e-z to make it even better, good on gas, and I have a 93 325is that I feel is a pos that still turns heads with not 1 mod

Get a 6 cylinder! The difference between the 4 and 6 cylinder BMW motors is unexplainable in words, you will never ever look back. Even the lowly 323 has lot's of torque and pulls decently in the higher RPM's.
Don't buy a supercharger, buy a 6 cyl. motor and swap it, you will be happier in the long run and it's a much wiser choice.

how hard would that actually be to do? and where would i get a hold of one. then comes my next questions, changing to a 6cyl engine, wouldnt you need ot change things like ecu, tranny, exhaust etc etc? may aswell sell up and get a new car?

make sure that there is nothing wrong with your car first, fix all the little thing than you can start to add performance parts to your car.

I think it would be quite a lot of work. Unless you have already done a serious amount of work modifying your body and suspension etc you are almost certainly better off selling your current car and putting the money into buying a factory 6 cylinder car.
