This is my 2nd 335i... the earlier one was the coupe. That had the same HPFP issue (back then the part was back-ordered and it took BMW over 40 days to get the replacement).
I get out of work in the evening. Lower the top, start the car.... long crank... and I am like... ohh looks like HPFP issue, but didn't think it was anything to worry about. Then the car starts shaking.. like missing ... and the check engine light comes on. I stop the car and try again... same error message ' Engine Malfunction, reduced power' comes on. It is close to 6pm. I drive up to the nearest BMW dealership (PeterPan). the guy takes it in.. and no BMW loaner. Instead, they give me this POS mitusubshi pickup.
This a complete joke, I would think that BMW would have resolved their Fuel pump issues... and a pickup truck..com'on. Any tips on how to get a BMW loaner from these guys?! I'm pissed...

Sorry to hear about your fuel pump.
My SES light has been on for over a week now and I have an appt next Monday. I'm hoping that the car holds on for dear life until then.

Don't take your car to Peter Pan?

My SES light came on for one drive last week, about 20 minutes. The next time I started it up, the SES light was gone.
The car is at the dealer for an unrelated issue, and they called today with an update on the SES light: they won't know for sure until tomorrow, but the system is showing a "misfire fault", and there's a chance they may have to replace both turbos.
I am beginning to have doubts about the reliability of these engines. This is the second problem mine has had (first they thought was the HPFP, but after replacing that, they determined it was an injector issue) in under 5000 miles.
The new M3 is beginning to sound better and better (except for that price tag )

Moving to the M3 could be like jumping from the frying pan to the fire, what with the new technology in the M3.

You really need to change your attitude. Loaning you the POS pickup is a gift. You now have the opportunity to get rid of any sh!t at your house, haul mulch from Home Depot, or anything else you've been wanting to do and not mess up your own car.
