Greetings, everyone. I'm a regular in the E46 forum, but we just bought a 2004 X3 today and am glad to be a part of this side of the boards. Thanks for having me...
My question: Our new X3 has a slight tear in the leatherette of the driver's seat. It's in a wierd place on the seat, and it can't really be fixed (not that I know of, at least). Where can I find a new seat, seat cushion and/or seat cover? How much would something like this cost me?
Thanks!

I saw some really nice racing bucket seats there as well. If I didnt love my tobacco leather and heated seats they would be on my "To Get" list.

SH, don't give up on repairing the seat cover just yet. Any really good auto upholstery shop can replicate virtually any seat cover, or panel therein. Check a couple out and get an estimate before you buy a new seat. Don't do it by phone tho' you need to go to the shop and let them see what is required. It also gives you a chance to look the shop over to see the work they do.

SH, remember to consider the labor cost of refitting a new seatcover. The seatcover repair estimate will include this cost. Good luck!

Good point but I have serious doubts as to whether any upholstery shop would be able to match the color and grain of the rest of the seat/interior? I'll bet it would stand out like a sore thumb.

rs, you would be surprised at what a quality shop can accomplish. I have had two panels (left bolster) replaced on different cars and the repairs are indistinguishable from the original material.

I just had a set cover replaced under warranty. The "Ette" was cracked and the shop MGR said if it has factory warranty on it , it would be covered.

I'm just out of warranty... but thanks though, that would have been ideal.

I priced it up before I found out it was covered. The seat cover for the bottom was only $87. Yes the install would be about a hour or so but still it's a factory cover.

Really? Nice. Where did you find it for that price? I'll pick one up for that much.

Hi. This is a common problem for most X3s. (cracked leatherette on diver's side)Take your car back to the dealer. They should fix it free of charge even after the warranty. If they don't you can buy the cover. Good luck

Thanks for the info, man. The stealership told me $75 bucks, and that it would only be a temporary fix... Wish I had a better dealership!

One of the preowned 06's we saw had tears in the drivers seat leatherette.....dealer said it could be matched and repaired inexpensively.
