Possibly a bit of a long shot this. My 535i is broken and I'm not going to repair it as I can't afford to run it in the country lanes I now live amongst. The little money I have is going to go towards a more economical car.
I hear that scrap metal is worth a few hundred quid at the mo and I've also found a feller who will give me £50 for it and break it. The thing is, while I'm not a mechanic I'm fairly sure it can be fixed for a few hundred quid and it's generally in pretty good nick. I rekon it's got a another hundred thousand miles in it easily. Because of this, and the fact that I'm sentimental, I really would rather it went to someone who'd like to fix it rather than see a basically good car that I've grown attached to broken up.
So, if anyone would like it for repair I'm more than willing to listen to offers. If I don't get a better offer I will give strong consideration to giving it away for repair rather than taking the money for scrap.
Description:
535i
E34
Automatic
88 or 89 (I forget but F-reg)
80-90K miles (again, I'll check)
Two owners who kept it garaged and serviced up to 60K
Gunmetal grey.
1 set of genuine M5 alloys plus 1 set of slightly smaller replicas.
Black Leather interior with heated electric seats.
Minor Faults:
Rust bubbles starting to show on one edge of the sunroof and around filler cap cover.
Cosmetic damage down drivers side from someone swiping it while it was parked. Trim plastic broken away, slightly dented, wing mirror plastic cracked where it joins the car but hanging on and should glue back fine.
A slight leak from an oil hose. Mechanics always tell me it's too minor to bother with and I rarely have to top up the oil.
Major faults:
Steering locks up for a few seconds if it gets a big splash from driving through a puddle. I figured this was electrical but someone recently told me it was likely to be worn seals on the rack and would need a replacement one.
Cooling fault. Temp gauge has suddenly shot up, this wasn't a progressive fault, it went from always being perfectly centre to suddenly rising fast towards the red. There is no milky residue in the oil. No significant smoke from the exhaust. There was a sound like a knackered bearing being turned which rose and fell with the engine revs. This stopped at the exact same time the temp gauge shot up. So I'm guessing a pump. Does mean it'll need towing though.
Otherwise in perfect condition :D
I may be dreaming here and I apologise if I'm cluttering the forum with junk but I hate to see it scrapped so I thought I'd give you all first refusal.
