Can anyone confirm that Michelin will be the sole supplier of runflats on the 09 3 series?

I would be very surprised were this to prove true. To the best of my knowledge, 3 series cars (excluding the M3 at times) imported to the US have used tires from multiple manufacturers for at least the last 15 years.

bmw has long term contracts will pirelli (not used for US bound cars due to limited US distribution) michelin, goodyear, continental and bridgestone. one mfr does not have the capacity to supply all of the prod needs.

often people see a car with a different tire and think that bmw switched suppliers. not true as what tires get put on a car depend on what the factory has in stock at time of production.

with the E46 sport package, the contisport contacts were that days bridgestones, with the desired tires being the michelin pilot sports or bridgestones.

afaik, michelin does not yet have an OE 19" application for the pilot sport zp, so that particular setup will remain bridgestone only for a bit longer

I am hoping that my 09 will come with Michelin but I guess it's just the luck of the draw. I'm sticking with the 18" SP tires and wheels.

ask the dealer to swap if possible. its likely that they will have a car in stock with the same wheels with the pilot sports you want.

work it into the deal, its not a huge thing for them, most of their customers probably dont know or dont care :)

Any update on the availability of Michelin runflats in the OEM 19" sizes? My car come out of production yesterday and was wondering if there is any chance it will have any brand of tires other than Bridgestone?
