Guys,

I really need some help here. I recently did a complete tuneup on my 2.3 2000 Z3. Like waterpump, thermot, rad hoses, sparks and main seal.

When I was tinkering around with the car I had moved the elbow intake hose little bit and teared the elbow and I did not realize it rightaway. So later on when I drove the car it sounded like it was trying to get more air intake and the car ran like ****.

Well I checked the hoses and realized the problem. Now let me get to the point of my problem recently when driving the car it's been making the same type of noise? Only when I accelerate it makes a lound air intake noise as if the car is trying to breath and it's not getting the air that it needs?

The question is: I have replaced all intake hoses and vaccum hoses could it be the MAS or the vaccum pump? I have also read that alot of people have had faulty oxygen sensors and I have never replaced mine since I had the car.

Has anyone had this problem and can anyone help me solve the problem?

It's possible another intake or vacuum hose. You Oxygen sensor is not going to make a noise. It would just cause a CEL.

O.K. do you happen to know where I might get some type of diagram of the intake hoses? When I look at the vaccum hoses on the pass side they go around the top of the engine to the back of the firewall of the car and I cannot see beyond that point?

I guess I am not sure if I am looking at the right place for all the intake hoses.

I guess the reason why I thought it might be the oxygen sensor is because I know that it controls air and gas to properly mix the two. I thought maybe it was not sending the correct code for the car to take the right amount of air in?

The same problems I have had in the past with my car others have had. I would think some would of had the same troubles? When I accelerate it almost sounds like a small howling sound that comes from the front of the engine near the belts and water pump?

Did you get the crank vent and everything hooked back up when you replaced the intake boot? An unplugged port in the intake tract will cause some nasty noises.
