Just wanted to run a quote by you all and get an opinion.

2008 328i - 32700
Jet Black - included
Premium Package - 3350
Steptronic Automatic - 1325
Heated Front Seats - 500
iPod and USB Adapter - 400
Destination Charge - 825

Total: 39100

Quote: $36100, 36 month lease, 15k miles/year, .0018 money factor, 56% residual.

$775 due at signing

$591.93/month

What do you think? Seems pretty close to invoice, but a little high on the money factor.

Any help is appreciated.

Are you aware of the credit for the steptronic transmission that is being offered currently? Taking this credit into account you should be able to get a deal below invoice. Have you actually calculated the invoice price? A 'fester recently closed a deal at Autobahn in Fort Worth for only $100 over invoice before deducting the transmission credit.

The MF is fully marked up. From the MF you posted it appears you are getting the security deposit waived? That is .00015 of the mark up. Then the full .0004 dealership markup has also been added.

Have you read the sticky on multiple security deposits? Are they an option for you in your financial situation? There is a very good cliff notes post on the last page of that thread.

You will better off taking advantage of the 0.9% financing on a 2 year balloon loan. Premium package included at no charge.

First I've heard of this offer. Please, do give details. I have seen no offer on the 3er with the premium package at no charge. I am aware of the premium package credit on the 5er.

Hi. Thanks for your reply.

I did see the steptronic credit on BMW's website, but I thought it was buy only not a lease, since it is under financing options and there is no mention of it under the lease offers. I will see what they have to say then. Thanks.

I did calculate the invoice based on Edmunds. It came out to $36040 with the options I listed.

The CA did tell me the money factor included a dealer markup and a waived security deposit.

Is the money factor negotiable without security deposits? I can do them, I would just like to put as little down as possible. I do realize you get it back, but still.

Thanks guys!

You are right, the offer on the 3 series is Automatic Transmission and on the 5 Series Permium Package.

Now is the time to buy, not to lease. I would never lease a vehicle, that's full profit for the dealer not you.

Leases are for people who cannot afford luxury cars.

Leases are for people who cannot afford luxury cars.

In many states, the lessee only pays sales tax on the difference between cap cost and residual value. So that means that a person who tends to swap cars every two or three years can save (in Indiana) 7% of 60% of $50K or more plus take the conservative route of knowing that they can "sell" the car at a predictable value later.

I'm the one that got the 328 for $100 over invoice. and that was $100 over invoice with the Auto Credit so it was Really $1160 below invoice.

so I don't think your getting a good deal. Money factors are neg. so you can get a better money factor depends on your credit and the finance manager.

Great car. I Still want the E92 instead. only 400 miles on it after 1.5 months.

Isn't this a too simple and one sided way of looking at leasing?? Without going into the details of lease vs. finance which have been discussed here over and over, some people don't want to own cars for time long enough for the financing aspect of the purchase to make sense financially! And even if you do finance, you might end up loosing badly when you are ready to sell if residuals and other market conditions change to your disadvantage, not even taking into consideration repair costs incurred past the warranty period.
