I have a 2006 M roadster and want to program the blinker to have the lane change feature turned on (aka blinking 3 times when you tap the blinker switch lightly)

the owner's manual said it is avaliable...but the dealer service people is telling me that it is not avaliable on my car

is that true?? or is it once again the dealer dunno what they are talking about

does anyone have it activated

any info would help TIA

it's a dealer activated option.
you're entitled to one free programming session upon delivery of the car, and they're supposed to charge you after that.
good luck.

Well the dealer is telling me that option is NOT AVALIABLE on my car (not that they are not willing to do it) and i just want to confirm if that's true.

So do you have that activated on your car??

I had it activated on my 06 M Roadster and I have it on my 08 M Coupe.. So the dealer is either ignorant or just don't want your business. There is a print out of what is available for personalization in the FAQ section. If you can't find it let us know and someone will dig it up for ya.

I've had my car key programmed a few times without charge. It depends on the dealer.

There is another feature called "auto relock after unlocking car after a few minutes".

The lane change signal is called "1 touch signal switch".

I tried to get this one as well and my dealer couldn't find it. They programmed all my other options, though.

Ron's option list is what you can take to the dealer and show them the options you want:

As far as I know there are no step-by-step instructions on how the options are set.

What is the build date of your 2006 M roadster? If the car was built very early in the model year cycle it might not be available.

Last seven digits/letters of VIN in RealOEM.com will also give you the build date.

P E85 roa Z4 M3.2 S54 USA 20060200 L N

so it looks like 2006 feb

is that too early for that feature??

why would that make a diff??

question #1 - Don't know.
question #2 - Marketing and engineering are not always on the same page. Marketing says model year 2006 will have "1 touch signal switch", it might take a few months before engineering develops it, and then who knows how long before it is in production. For instance, my 04/2004 build z4 has things that earlier build 2004 models don't.

I've gotten the same story from my dealer - not available on the E86, etc. I'll give them another chance when I take it in for its 1 year oil change and see if the try to charge me for doing what they should have done right the first time.

I didn't have any problem activating it. The tech have to look for it in a sub menu (that's what he said). I believe I have everything activated, but not sure about mirror memory. Never paid attention to that because my 04 didn't have that feature.

Try a different dealer. For instance: In southern California, Rusnak is more accommodating than, say, Bob Smith. Or, perhaps a bottle of vodka might help grease the way :)
