Need some opinion from like-minded folks:

My first car was a 1997 Mitsubishi Eclipse RS. I've had it since 2000 when I turned 16. When I bought my E90, I kept the Eclipse because I just could not part with it. It was my first car, and I am a sentimental guy so I kept it. Plus, it is in fairly decent shape, with about 114k on the odo and a few dings here and there.

The car is registered and insured, and I drive it about 3-4 times a month. It is paid off, obviously, and it costs me about $600/year to insure/register/et cetera. Recently, I have been really interested in finding myself a mid to late 90s BMW convertible. I found one tonight that I would really consider purchasing, but I think 3 cars would be too many for me. So, the question is: do I sell the Eclipse and buy a replacement, or keep the Eclipse and buy nothing. If I do sell it, I am just REALLY afraid that I will regret selling it a few years down the line. On the other hand, I really want a convertible weekend car!

Have any of you been faced with the dilemma of getting rid of your first car? How about some of you that did and really regret it. Any thoughts??

I used to feel the same way about several of my past cars. Now I don't regret any of it.

That said, if the eclispe is the AWD, turbo charged version (can't remember what it was called), keep it as it's really rare and now valuable. I plan on keeping my M roady because of the potential for increased value in the future. Most eclispes don't have that going for them.

GSX. I went through two AWD Talons, a '91 and a '90. Loved them, but the front seats from the '90 live on in my Corvette. Didn't have plans to get rid of either, but I wrecked the '91 and the '90's engine blew.

I sold my trusty 89 Civic with 107K miles a while back. It was the only new car I ever bought. At some point you gotta let em go.
Just picked up a 98 Z3 roadster and we are having a blast. Go for it. :)
