View Full Version : Z4 - Are the side mirrors part of the memory seat setting?

I know the right side mirror does not have the auto down function when in reverse, but are they tied into the memory seat function in general? I had mine all setup perfectly along with seat adjustment and thought everything was set into memory spot 1 on my seat. The other day I moved the mirror to look at something, and was surprised when it didn't move back after pressing the 1 button. Is this feature available on the Z4? Really hope so. Thought maybe it needed to be turned on by the dealer? Just curious.

Side mirror position is part of the key setting, not part of the seat setting.

So, if set correctly by activated Car & Key memory, Key 1 will move the seat to the position it was in last time that key was used and the mirrors to the positions they were used by that particular key. This may or may not correspond to the 1, 2, 3 settings on the seat. Key 2 will move the seats and mirrors to where they were moved last. Your car has to be programmed to behave this way.

This is my understanding based on reading posts and searching the archives. My car isn't here yet to verify.

As Jon said seat/mirror memory shows up in the car / key list shown in the following link.
It's not active stock.

Not sure if I care for this key memory thing if I understand it correctly. So if the wife hops in the car and uses my keys (which is the norm) and adjusts the seat and mirrors to her liking. The next time I get back in the car it's going to revert back to her settings since they were last used? That doesn't even make any sense. The seats have 3 memory buttons on them. Why not just program the mirrors into the seats like in the 3 series? That way it's always just a button press away for whoever drives the car. That's if I understand this correctly. I'm guessing the key would work if we each used a separate key, as it would adjust as soon as the car was started. Sounds nice in theory, but not practical in the real world. Sometimes I think electronics are over complicated. :tsk: Thanks for the info though....list is getting shorter. :)

Maybe it does when it's activated.
I don't have mine activated so I don't know.
Activate it and see what happens.

Well I'm working on a list of things I want activated so I only have to get hit with the fee once. I'll add this to my list and let you know. Might be a few weeks though.

And since when don't you have an answer Ron??? :)

I learn things every day.
You can add one.

Don't forget the history.
