Had the car a month now, and sometimes the engine sounds like it has a hard time starting in the morning. The idle sounds fine, but notice slight power decrease while driving and never really comes back until after a good amount of time (even after temp gauge is nominal). Starting the engine warm, or after it's been sitting in the sun for hours, it starts fine and the engine seems to drive smoother. On rare occasions, the cold start is fine with normal power from the get-go. BTW, I use 92 gas from a few different sources.

I experienced this throughout the lifetime of my 2001 VW GTI VR6 as well, and just learned to live with it. Is it something to be concerned about with a brand new BMW?

The motor loosens up a lot as the miles go up. As for cold starts, the engine and trans feel a bit tight esp when its cold out and this also reduces as miles increase ... sounds more or less normal.

Morning starts esp in the winters are a tad "stiff" on my 2000 GTI VR6 even after 121000 miles, but much much less than when she was new.
