Generally, they dislike the 6 series (fookers) but they love the beefy 500 HP (http://www.automobilemag.com/reviews/editors_notebook/0808_2008_bmw_m6_coupe/index.html).

BTW, it's obvious why these reviewers don't get it; the 6 is the sexiest beastie in the BMW line (although the 3 is certainly better looking now than before). They're so removed by the cache this car affords, they can't understand the car's appeal other than the engine. It's kind of like the wives' tail about when native Americans first viewed the large European ocean-bearing ships and couldn't comprehend what they were seeing. These reviewers are so geeked out, their nerd glasses get in the way of the 6's sexiness.

This is speculation but I believe they tend to compare the M6 to other cars in the same class from Jag, MBZ, Porche, Aston, etc. Given those comparative models, the 6 is really the weak sister in the looks department. Not that it's not good looking but that these other cars are much better looking. Where BMW ALWAYS (my generalization) shines is when they drive the car!

Could be. :dunno:
It's subjective, of course. Jag? It's a Ford (now a Tata). Porsche? Hasn't been restyled in years. Mercedes? I like the CLS. Aston? Still a Ford but... :freakdanc

I hear ya. But I've seen other reviews of the 6 against the Jag. The 6 got nailed on looks but performed better than the Jag, I think the review summary went something like this "She ain't much to look at but boy can she cook". Ford or not the Jag is a sexy car. Just don't expect it to be mobile all the time :) You're right about Porsche but again, the exterior styling is still sexier than the 6 (and I personally love the 6 styling).

honestly, it is what I would expect from them. I love that people have love/hate relationships with the car. I don't want just another cookie cutter car - and that is all about you find over here stateside. The review is nothing more or less than what I expected... more of the same old stuff. Maybe if they had put some cheap plastic skirts, a non-functioning scoop, and some oversized graphics on it they might have liked it... or got it. It's a GT... get over it.
