Hi,

The more I look at eh M logo on my Z4 M coupe hatch lid, the more it bothers me. I am thinking about moving it to where it should be (as on every other M car made).

What adhesive tape do you all use when you move your M logo? Is it a special part you have to order from BMW or do you buy something off the shelf from a regular auto parts store?

Thanks!

Some people remove it. It's double sided tape. BMW doesn't offer just the tape.
McMaster has a bunch of double sided tape. Not sure what BMW uses.

I kind of like it in its odd location. Completes the package for the rareness and distinguishing looks of the Z4M. I understand your wanting it in the proper location though.

3M VHB (Very High Bond) tapes are available at Home Depot and/or Lowes. The stock tape is approx 1.1mm thick. You can also order them online at mcmaster.com Note there is a cure time of approx 72 hours to achieve full strength.

I intend to remove as many M logos from the car as possible as soon as possible, starting with the 3 major exterior ones.

yeah- I may remove the 2 on the sides but don't mind the one on the back... as long as it is in the proper spot.

aestheticstorm- good point and something to consider.

It's in the right spot for the Coupe :).

+1 They are just dirt/wax collectors. Most folks don't even know what kind of car it is much less whether it's an ///M.
There aren't too many other ///M logos that are easily removed. The ///M emblem on the engine cover actually doesn't look too bad. The ///M on the strut tower cover is also pretty subtle.
Most offensive to me are the sun visor airbag warning decals and the headlight high voltage warning decals.

Don't remember removing that one, But I must have since I removed all of the decals / labels.

M Badge debate has been beaten to death, but I guess I just like to flaunt the fact that my car is an M. It's true that 90% of people don't know what kind of car it is, but somewhere in that group, they know what the M means. It's a bigger status symbol to average folks than sans-badge. Sans-badge suggests new bodywork after a wreck. :thumbdwn:

Our local BMW CCA Chapter is having its second annual M-Car Day at Griot's Garage this Sunday:

It will be interesting to see how many of the 100 plus M cars retain their exterior badges.

I would be interested in that data. It will certainly be representative of the enthusiast market. I am leaving for HC on Saturday night, so I will not be able to attend!

So enthusiasts remove their badges and non-enthusiasts leave them on?

No, but nice try.

Enthusiasts go to local M Car Days.

I'm not Jon's spokesperson, but what I think he means is that those ///M car owners who show up on Sunday are the die-hard, fanatical Bimwads who like to show off their Bimmers and associate with fellow M car "enthusiasts".

Then what does "M Badge data" have to do with it if you're automatically an enthusiast if you attend?
