for those of you that have 22's on and have NOT lowered their car, do you feel that it handles better or worse than your stock rims?
the tires are wider so i assume it does handle better but today i felt the car pull when i took a sharp turn going at about 40mph. i took those kinda turns all the time in my stock rims and i felt like it handled better. maybe i'm just looking too deep into it. :dunno:
let me know your thoughts!

I'm no gear head, but I was always under the impression that smaller wheels lend to better handling. I thought that was the big stink that the 3 series guys make all the time when the periodic M3 V 650 thread gets started.

Bigger tires = more weight = more reciprocating mass = harder to turn = less feel from the car.
The contact patch will be wider, which means it should grip better, though.

and it depends on the tire also. I have conti's on my 22's and I feel it grips a lot better than my stockies.

i have Mich pilot sport.. ok, it's good that i was not going outta my mind when i felt the car pull more than my stock rims.
i guess lowering the car would help too..
sacrifices we have to make to attain the look we want! :rofl:

Usually when you change the wheels setup you should also update any other setup that relates to it, i.e. ride height, camber, bound/rebound, etc to gain the most benefit of the upgrade. once done, the car should handle better, but not sure if this applies up to 22 inches.

I think your car understeered due to the fact that you decelerated on the corner. try having constant speed or accelerate on the same senario, should be better.

First of all, there are several "stock" rims for the 6er outside of the US. I hate the looks of those "flower power" style 121 rims included in the US sports package too. :rolleyes:
But we must assume that the BMW engineers also had a few thoughts about the optimum wheel size for the 6er in terms of handling, performance and day-to-day useability. Most OEM rims are 18" or 19", one (style 101) is 20".
Another answer for the optimum rim size regarding handling and performance might be the rim/tire size ratio seen on a Formula 1 race car.
