I'm looking to purchase a tire/wheel winter package for my 335 cab with sport.
On Tirerack's website, I see that the 17" 3Ds come in 2 sizes as well as "XL" load.

I wanted to know what you recommend and what is "XL" load.

Also, should I stagger the winter tires as the summer tires are? I also saw that one of the 3D sizes was only "H" rated while the "XL" and other 3D are "V" rated.

Thanks for your help.

Yes, the higher speed rated version of the 3D is an extra load tire. The XL rating is a higher load rating and will make no difference for your application as you can use either standard load or extra load tires. The V rated version should have slightly faster steering response bit a bit firmer ride than the H rated version. I would suggest a non stagger for winter use.
