Day 1:
M6- Hiting the apex of a turn. Basically and turn-in and braking exercise. High speed bursts with hard braking
M6- Short track and Slalon (timed)
m3- Short track practicing heal and toe downshifting
M5- basically a wet circle, learning how to correct understeer and oversteer
M3- going in circles with an m3 on a wet surface
m5- Laps with an m5 (timed)
Day 2
m6- short technical track with inclines, sharp turns and short straights. This was truly amazing and had my favorite turn. If you are stupid on some of these turns you could easily intruduce yourself to the guard rail
m5- Hairpin turn. This was really hard for me. Basically you reach about 90 mph jam your brakes hit the first apex and maintain speed to hit the outside of the turn. The whole time you have to keep a steady steering angle and no braking after the initial slow down. The hair pin speed was about 65-70
m3- short figure 8's on wet surface, no traction, no skid control
Finally the whole track is opened up. A culmination of everything we had learned. One session each with the m6 and m5, the whole session was about 22 miles. OMG this was really intense. Go to google maps and search bmw performance center SC. The map is out dated for they have added a new section to the right side of the track.
The event is 3300 for 2 days, with bmwcca discount it is 2640.
The event includes all transport from and to hotel, airport, and the performance center,
2 nights lodging at the marriot, 2 breakfasts, 2 dinners, 2 lunches.
Freebies: beaituful helmet, 2 shirts, jacket, hat, bag and some other small marketing items
In car video: you get a dvd of you last day if you recorded it in the car.
I am working on a through write up with pics to follow. Have to run for now.
was the money well spent?
NO DOUBT, a great value, if you are/were on the fence about going, take the plunge. You will NOT be dissapointed.
