24 months left in the lease, the car is at 8k miles. It has the cold weather package. The monthly payments are about $450. Does it make sense to take over this lease?

Is the $450 before or after taxes? If before, you can possibly get a new one for less.

How is the AT? Is that why the current owner wants out?

(In other words...we need more information.)

If you can wait, payments on our 2007 X3 are $370.65/month including Georgia tax. Crimson Red, Manual Transmission. Car has Park Distance Control.

Car will be available in late October. Car will have 11 months and about 15,000 miles left on the lease. At the end of the lease you would be a 'current BMW FS customer' and should be eligible for owner loyalty programs.

We are leaving the US and can not take a leased car out of the country.

We'd want you to pay BMW FS the $450 lease assumption fee.

I would be interested, but I live in Boston. How would that work out long distance without seeing the vehicle first?

Also, factoring the FS fee into the price the monthly payment becomes about $410. This other lessee is willing to pay that fee himself. I assume your car does not have the cold weather package, which would be nice to have here.

After taxes. The lessee says there are no problems with the AT, but I haven't driven it yet to test it personally.

I can understand why you would want to stay with cars in your area. In any case our car isn't ready to look at now.

Our X3 does not have the cold weather package.
