If your supercharging your car who cares about fuel economy your going to be winding that thing out every chance you get!!!! At least thats what I would do speaking of which I got the BMW urge today and spun it sideways in front of a cop didnt get pulled over though. Sh*t about a month ago I had a state cop try and race me down the highway. Silly law enforcement

Hi MrAbbs325is. Yeah, I know it may not be common to worry about fuel economy when considering something like forced induction. I only ask though cause I do like my car and would like to drive it for another 3 or 4 years. At the same time I always wanted the freedom to take it out and play with it, as you seem to enjoy :) Just curious the penalty for going that route, especially when premium where I live was around 4.30-4.40 just last month. Actually, what I really want to know is how much of an effect it would have under "Normal" driving. I usually drive 60 and shift before 2500 rpm :-/

Well if you are shifting before 2500 then your not burning the fuel that your engine has in it and your cat just picks it up. Plus If your gonna spend a few K on a kit whats a few cents more on gas? I would go post this up in the forced induction section. Also if your car has a substantial amount of miles on it you have to worry about all that power and your stock tranny and rings, valves, which includes in some cases camming it, injectors, tuning, full exhaust. There is many more variables that go into supercharging then just the kit. Just trying to help ya out. I dont know what kind of upgrades you have but if your stock start building it up CAI, Exhaust, ECU remap, ignition coils, etc. There is a laundry list of substantial upgrades that you def. can get a lot of noticable power out of and "go play around" without going all out and charging it.
My buddy gets 16mpg in his aa stg. 2 e36 m3......6mpg at 150+ mph hahaha!

Hmm. Well put. It does have a bit of miles as of now, so i suppose that could be quite costly. Oh yeah, and the shifting before 2500rpm, that came from me paying too much attention to that lil mpg needle. I guess over time I formed a driving habit watching that thing, hoping it would make a difference. Used to drive a lot on the freeway, so its not as bad as it could be if I were in traffic all the time.

Supercharging actually improves fuel economy by altering the AFR to run leaner - at least that's how it was on our VF 328
