So I found a set of Brobet type A's on my local craigslist, advertised sooper cheap. Had been posted 2 weeks prior, but I figured what the hey? Irresistible to at least call at the price they were at.
Anyways, he's been tripping over them and they've been in his way, he was going to the club and wanted the money, and wanted me to come pick them up within a half hour... so I got them for a screaming good deal...
I'm just wondering what a set of 8.5" Borbet Type A's go for, in terms of price. 5x120
Want to know if it's worth paying to have them refinished, or if I should sell them as is, or sell them for scrap aluminum... (Joke!)

First one is the worst. Had a bent lip, lightly bent, and has the worst curbrash of them all.

So worthwhile refinishing? How much can I reasonably expect to get for the set, complete, with a fourth center cap and the borbet stickers brand new on all four?

:hi: Welcome to bimmerfest.

Current value, not counting value of tires (I cannot see brand/tread depth) = $80 for everything. Maybe another hundred max for tires?

Cost to refurbish = $400-up

Value after refurbishment = $150-200 + tire value

In other words, not a good investment for resale, in my opinion. :( (If you bought them for $5, some potential, I suppose...)

By the way, if you are a female person who has a child with a child (e.g., a grandmother) you have the Best Username Ever.... :D

Thanks for the response.
First off, I'm a guy, it's just my last car was a grandma gold volvo 240 sedan, and I managed to pitch it sideways with lots of smoke, totally stock - "It looked like a grandma was out of control and going sideways in my rear view mirror" - and grandmasideways was the nickname that stuck, hahaha.

Anyways, the tires aren't all that great. Depending on the refurb. cost, well, it might be worthwhile. I got them for silly cheap money. I'm still undecided to run them with adapters on my Volvo wagon, or sell them as is, or refinish and sell, or what. I really like them, though. I might have them stripped and all that, have the bends knocked out, and repaint them myself.

I'll post a feeler thread and start accepting offers. i'll hold off on selling until I get some refinishing quotes.
I saw a set on bimmerforums that want for $1100+ $400 shipping to the USA from europe, in nice shape, but who knows what price he really settled at. Those too were the same offset and 8.5" wide on all four corners.
The tires... Well one is gouged in the sidewall, and they're cheap rikens and god only knows how old. They might be good for a few burnouts, but I wouldn't bother to keep them to be honest.
