1 Week old, I get a panic phone call from my son. He tells me his trunk brake light fell off. I figured one of his friends picked it off to see the LED's, or maybe vandlism. That night when I saw it I looked for pry marks or scratches, nothing there. The lens is mounted to the led light bar. The bar is still there, the lens is gone. I brought my 5 in for service today and started talking to the service manager about the 1. He said he had seen it happen to one so far. We went to the lot and looked at on of the new ones, it too was cracked. Later We went back to the other new ones, they were all cracked or starting to crack. It looks like this is going to affect lots of the 1's verts out there.
There arent any light units in the US right now. So we are waiting to get a delivery date.

I've had mine for over 5 months and just checked - still in pristine condition - not a hint of a crack..

Same here - 4 mos. & 11,000 miles and no problems. The one on my Z4 deformed after 2 1/2 years and was quickly replaced under warranty - not a big issue.

Looks like you can see material and wires, I would try and cover it up with old piece or something to keep mother nature out.

Old piece is completely gone.
Dealer said everything is sealed, not to worry. (yeah right)

If the light does not light up red at all, refuse to drive it and have the dealer give you a loaner. It is not safe nor road legal.

It lights up, and is even red. It's the cover that's gone. But they are one piece. Cover is glued/bonded to the light unit.

If yours is starting to crack, I would suggest getting it to the dealer NOW. So they can order the units. It won't be long till they just dissappear.
