Just wondering how long it takes to complete the whole process of picking up the car at the Welt from the time you are assigned to arrive to the moment you drive off the building. I might have to rush things a bit at the center. I am thinking about changing my pick up day if possible, but that is a whole different question by itself. Any comments are appreciated. I am new to the forum by the way !!! :hi:

This is not a experience that I would rush. I did it for the first time in April. Took two months driving around europe 17 contries in 60 days. I gave myself one whole day. I arrived at 8:30ish.
When you arrive you can choose what you want to do. I took delivery of a 6 series. so my car was aside from the others. all the others are stored and brought up via eleator from the factory.
Things you can do at the welt.
factory tour
Play with all the adult toys at the welt.
YOu can go to the museum also. It was closed when I was there.
lunch- they give you a voucher that really pays for about half of lunch for 2. You also get a voucher to buy something at the store. I got a hat.
the delivery process from begining to when you drive off. I would say about 30-45 minutes. I had lot's of questions since I have never used I drive. voice commands and all the other toys on my car like the night vision and such. I do have to say I was disappointed in the lack of knowledge of the people that deliver your car. They didn't know much when I asked. I figured I would find out on my own or from the dealer.
So I know of the museum would have been open I would have had a full day I took delivery at 3:30.
If you only had time for one thing. I would make it the factory tour. That was worth it takes about a hour.

Total time depends on factors you may not control. However, you may save time if skip the interactive product demonstration portion (search for other festers' reports on this part, as I skipped it) and request an appointment time that is early in the day. Mine was originally scheduled for early afternoon, but I moved it to an available spot at 9 am by calling the BMW ED department. I probably was out in a little over an hour (and a goodly part of it was spent eating in the Premium Lounge, and talking to Mat, the delivery specialist, about his Mini, previous BMWs, and his recent trip to California.)
Good luck.

As Asteroid says, you could probably do it in an hour or a little less, but remember that they're not standing there ready for your delivery at your check-in time. There's a lag of at least 20 minutes, even early in the morning. You could shortcut or maybe even skip the simulator session, I guess, and go straight to the "gimme the keys" part. But the bigger question is, why would you want to? You live fifteen minutes away and can go over there any time you want? You do an ED every year or so? This is a terrific, completely unique experience. The rest of Europe's not going anyplace: it's right outside there waiting for you to show up. Why rush?

Totally agree with you. Trust me, I don't want to rush it, heck! I specifically picked my delivery day to be the same as my birthday, but now other issues outside my control are messing up my plans. I will try to keep my delivery day, but if I have to rush things that day, I'd rather pick it up a day before or a day after. Thanks for the advice!

I'm not sure that skipping the interactive demo will save much time.
Depending on how busy the Welt is, your delivery time is your delivery time.
They have opened up deliveries at the Welt to more European lands so there are more customers every day now (despite fewer from the U.S.).
Figure a minimum of two hours no matter what.

Go early and enjoy WeissWurst at the premium lounge!
I've checked in at 10am and then interactive product presentation started around 10:45.
Actual delivery started 11:20ish and was out the door by noon.

Well, it looks like changing my delivery date will make more sense now. I will contact BMW to try to change my pick up date.

I didn't see the WeissWurst there. Darn, cause I loved the stuff and ate it everywhere I could find it. :yumyum::yumyum::yumyum: Even tried to eat it after noon (no luck there).
That's another reason to stay longer if your appointment is in the morning !!!!:yummy::yummy::yummy:

I found weisswurst in a silver metal pot. You won't notice they are in the pot until you open it.
