I recently took my 135 Convertible to the service dept for a strange coolant smell coming the engine. They kept the car for 3 days they I was provided me with a nice loaner. When I took the car I physically check my car for scratches and I even informed the service dept that I didnt want the car to get washed. I have owned my car for just 3 months. The car has ZERO scratches and the car is garage kept with less than 1000 miles on it.

To make the story short my car was returned to me with a scratch on the Bumper and 2 scratches by the lower driver side door. I placed a call to the service dept and the general manage and so far I have not received any returned calls. I am freaking PISSED that I spend my money in this nice car and I take it to the original dealership "Perillo BMW" and their mechanics or handlers dont take care of their customers cars. WTF can I do since I placed several calls without any response???:dunno:

You should go there in person. I think that will make more of statement. I doubt they can duck you when you're standing right there in front of them.

This unfortunately is the usual problem with BMW dealers. They're after-sales dedication to the customer generally stinks compared to Lexus. I swore off my first BMW dealer for not meeting their service promises. Never been back there. I know BMW has been worried about Lexus stealing their lunch because the only thing they still have going for them is a somewhat subjective superior "feel" for the road and market cache. Lexus has better fit, finish, customer service and overall reliability. I wish BMW would get it right and take better care of their customers, but I wouldn't count on it.

Personally I am not a fan of Japanese (Toyota turned into Lexus) or any other Japanese, Korean etc made cars. BMW bee on the market for decades and they are raced proven, good quality cars. Not trying to knock off Lexus or any made car but in my personal experience and taste I prefer a well made German car. Wish the Americans could compete in this market but that has not been the case, sadly said. The dealership service dept Manager called me, apologize and said the that they will issue me a loaner and correct the problem, he also stated that this usually happens but not all the time due to their high volume of customers. But that's why they have a "Cosmetic Dept" for those types of issues. I'm pretty sure, Lexus or any other type of dealership does offer some type of service like that. This could happen to anybody or any brand. However, when it comes to customer service yes BMW is somewhat slow to say the least

dude i totally know what you are talking about! I just hit about 1000 miles when i finally broke down and let my wife drive her. Yea really bad idea! Not eavn a half mile from my house she hits a 18wheeler!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Now i can laugh about it (yes shes fine). long story short i take it to the original dealer like you did and a week and a day later i go back to pick her up, by the way i got a crapy loaner car, and it looked like they let a bunch of six year olds wash it with brillow padds! I freaked out right there on the spot! I told them if they didnt get these out i wanted a knew car. So they did some cheesy wax job on it that at the time looked great but a month later im seeing the scratches again! i dont get it. we spend all this money on these freakin cars and we cant even get a little good customer care. oh well huh

I know $hit happens, but so far (and nearly 3 years) I have not had a bad experience with the service dept at BMW Cleveland. If anything, they bend over backwards to make things right.

I guess it depends on a variety of variables. Oh - and I also do NOT let them wash my car. So far, so good.
