View Full Version : Unplugged MAF cause surging idle???

Well, on my 91 525i Ive been told that my surging idle is probably due to a dirty Idle Control Valve. I was probing around under the hood today and noticed that my MAF was not even plugged in. The plug was on it, but was not locked down. Could this have caused a surging idle? Id check if it fixed it, but Im not at home right now to find out.

Probably not. The Idle circuit is basically seperate and it's only goal is to keep the engine at a certian RPM. Drive it for a bit and see how it is doing. If you still have the idle problem get yourself some seafoam deep creep.
