SO...in conversation with an aquaintance today, I find out that he owns an e30 M3 that he's looking to sell...he's the original owner of the car. So the question is....would you sell your current non-M3 e30 for an unmolested M3 which will be a good price (under $8K-for me)

I'm super torn...been working on my vert for almost a year...but who knows...

thats such a tough call. it depends on what kind of work you've put in on your vert.

Quite a bit actually, but I'm not too attached to cars...I would actually like to have both e30s and my e39 but I have to be practical at some point and I would say the vert might have to go...even though I love the car...decisions decisions...why couldn't he just sell it for $20K that was it would be outta my range...not saying it isn't right now...but geez!

About five years ago I could have bought my mechanics '88 M3 for 6k, now the same car is being advertised for 16K. Buy it if it's not complete junk.

i'd give my left nut for an unmolested ///M, no matter how much work i have into my car, non ///M's are everywhere

I would go with the M3...

Give it a good look over first like any car and take it for a quick spin... Make sure there are no weird noises, rattling, etc...

If you really really want to make sure take it to a BMW mechanic and put it on a lift... Pay the $50 odd and you'll know if you have a gem of a find or not... Usually if he agrees that you can do this then the car is in pretty good shape...

With E30 M3s, in another 5-10 years time they are going to be worth even more!!!

Worst you loose if $50 for the mechanic service but thats the gamble you got to take :D

i prefer non-m e30's body styles compared to the e30 m3's. m3's are just too plain. but if you can get one for 8k .. by all means .. get it. if it really came to it you could sell it for prolly double that price then buy another e30 and have thousands left over to do whatever you want to the e30.

Practical???? No need to do that, just buy it.. If I wanted to be prectical I wouldnt have 5 BMWs and a BMW motorhome... You will kick your self for not getting it later on down the road.

I say get it, and put it into storage under a cover for 20 years.

why would you need 2 e30s? you are gona end up driving one more then the other and liking it more, and the other one would stay in garage and not being driven =( ,so why not just get an m3, they are really rare and expensive if they had been really good taken care of. plus its an M3! ur not gona regret for buying it unless its really crappy and has alot of miles on it. I say yes btw hes the original owner, ur gona be the 2nd owner and ur e30 probably had like 5+ owners. If I had a chance like u I would buy it without thinking about my own car. First check with the mechanic to make everything is alright.

i actually want about 5 e30's, why wouldn't you want 2 e30's? i definetly wouldn't want an m3 as a dd thats why i would keep the 325i as a dd and just stare at and drive the M3 on weekends.

the DOHC 4 cylinder was notoriously problem prone and not much fun anyway..the later M3 came with the 6...much more better....cliff

I had the opportunity in 1999 to grab a 1988 M6 with 56K miles on it for $16K. I had a 1986 635CSi at the time and didn't do it....I still kick myself in the ass everytime I think about it....rats....cliff

Yes the e30 m3 did always have a s14 dohc 4 cyl. the e36 and e46 had a 6 cyl and the e90-93 has a v8
