How many Valentine 1 detectors does everyone have? I just ordered an additional Valentine 1
I tend to move my Valentine 1 from one car to the other every time I get behind the wheel. I found that it not only takes a toll on the suction cups, but ultimately the connectors which I certainly do not wish to replace anytime soon. I almost dropped my unit several times for being so frugal.
Plus I like the fact, that I have it hardwired in one car and I want to have the other hardwired rather than plugging it into the cigarette lighter.
I don't tend to speed or anything, but the local police and now the California Highway Patrol are using radars everywhere I tend to travel and I don't wish to get caught off guard.

Just one for me, it's my first one. My wife got it for me when I got the 335i since it's such a speed demon. If we end up getting her the new Maxima or Altima (265hp!) I might have to return the favor!
One V1 in my Z4M, one V1 in wife's 335, one Passport 8500x50 in airport car.

none, I'm not afraid of the police enough/ or stupid enough to drive so excessively over the speed limit that I can't regulate it between various stretches if highway or road.

Question: Where can I find that the Escort 9500i is BETTER rated than the V1? When technology changes, will you be able to upgrade the Escort with at a minimal charge as one can do with the V1?
I'm sure some of us would like to know if this option is better than what we have... But I don't think so... I'm not saying that the Escort technology is not comparable, but I have had a V1 since 2003 and its be very reliable. Previous to the V1, I had an Escort that was unreliable, which I simply gave it away!

Would it be easier/cheaper to buy an additional hardwire kit and mount ? That way you could swap it from car to car easy.

I thought about that option, the additional hardware kit, which is one I serious considered. For years, every time I got behind one of my other vehicles I had to remember to take it out of the one previous. I started to get frustrated with the process. Its just more convenient to have one hardwired in each of the primary cars and not have to swap out. Plus I can't stand the coiled cord (or any cord) dangling from the cigarette to the windshield no matter where you place it.

I've got three radar detectors:
1 - Passport 9500i
2 - Passport 8500's
I swap them between all of the cars...

1 - Had it for about 12 years. Sent it back for updates twice during that time. V1's support and service is excellent. It's definitely paid for itself over those years. I figure that with the upgrades it's averaged about $75 per year. Not bad.
I am considering buying a new one though just to avoid the need to shuffle back and forth between cars. I tend to use it only on long road trips, but I prefer my wife use it all the time when she's solo. She's not a fast driver, but just to use it as a reminder to check her speed when radar is in the area.

I have 3. One in my Bimmer, one in my Porsche, and one in the SUV - all hardwired by each dealer. It just got to be a hassle moving from one vehicle to the other

The $400 Valentine One is better than $450 Escort 9500i and every Escort 9500i you buy on ebay comes with a voided warranty.

Nicely subjectively stated. :)
I feel the GPS-based 9500i is about as good as it gets. In my local area, mine doesn't peep unless a cop is around. ZERO false alarms.
Ford or Chevy. Valentine or Escort...

One (14 years old that barely picks up Ka), with hard wiring in three cars. I'll have to pick up a new one soon, since the police in my little town have switched over to Ka.

I know how you feel, I held onto my original Passports until we saw Ka about 5 years ago.....

0 - I have a $35 walmart special cobra that works wonderfully. Paid for itself 3 minutes after pulling out of the walmart parking lot and daily since then (including tonight when it picked up scatter laser off the car in front of me.) I wonder how much a cordless cobra might be, maybe $40? Might have to upgrade to one of those.

Valentine 2 does a much better job than V1 at detecting POP signals.
