1992 535i left rear door panel
I have removed the three phillips screws and the lock knob, the only other info I can find is to unsnap the sides and bottom and pull straight up....
No luck yet, I have pulled really hard to the point of almost breaking something.

yep did this a week or tow ago.
well covered in the bentley
you need to get the upper piece out from under the aluminum trim, pull out and up on one end and peel it like a ziploc bag all the way across
then you go around the perimeter popping the clips.
then remove the latch cable and the rear window switch connector and lift the panel up and off.
Before you can put it back on , you have to take a pair of pliers and take the black plastic thing off the post in the middle of the door by depressing the sides of the clips (not the middle)
Once it is off you fit it back on the panel before putting the panel in place
1st latch and harness, tuck top, go around perimeter by hand lining up clips and slap it hard with an open palm to seat them, then a closed fist slap and the armrest will seat the black clip into place. Screws, covers and done.

Here is a video showing the process of removing the rear door panels from E32 which is similar to E34s. Those who are looking to removing the front door, you will just have to pry open the power mirror switch and the rest of the process is pretty much same.
Here is the link of the video.
