my father wants me to help him pick out a car for him to drive daily to work since his current car broke down (mazda 6) anyway his price range is under 45k new or used (preferably certified pre-owned) that gets decent mpg (around 25mpg hwy) so what would you guys suggest? one thing is that he hates audis so no audis.

i found a few that are possible contenders

You could get a very nice Honda Accord hybrid or Toyota Camry hybrid, get the mileage you want with lots of money left over. If the target is to spend $45k then what other features does he want? Luxury? Sports? 4 door? 2 door?

mainly luxury and name. at least 4 seats is the requirement.

He could get a CPO 530i pretty cheap these days. If he gets lucky, he might find a 1 year old 535i that would be in his price range as long as its not too loaded. Older people don't usually want to be cramped in a 3-series, so I would not recommend the 335 even if it's a vert. Either the 530i or the 535i get 25 MPG highway.

the CTS is def a looker and with the GM employee pricing extended till the 30th its a solid deal for the car. BUT the CTS have been having some steering wheel vibration issues so be sure to test drive the car first. its usually between 55-70 mph when theres a noticible shake. and currently there is no known fix for this. its either you have it or you dont (and in a few cases it happened after 1000 miles or so) so good luck if you go that route.

the M45 is another nice car but theres a new M due out next year, so the resale value will def. take a hit. theres some awesome deals on the g35 sedans bcus the g37 sedan is due out next month and the dealers are trying to get rid of the 08s.

IMHO the acura 09 TL is a TERRIBLE design.

Lexus is a good choice for a daily. boring drive but reliable and awesome dealers if you have troubles.

and of course you cant go wrong with a eruo delivery 335 :D well good luck!
