HEY EVERYONE,
I BOUGHT A 99' 528I LAST YEAR. I love the car, it drives the way that I want to drive it. I had the last oil change done, and I was just like wtf when it came time to pay at the dealership.
Now its time to venture out to the small shops. I have seen many.... In the City up by Dyckman, one on 9th Avenue, a couple in the Bronx as in Brooklyn too.
(I Drive about 45,000 miles/ year and yes in NYC)
Does anyone, have a recommended shop?
Thanks,

Depends on where you are. If you're in Queens or midtown, you could check out German Cars Inc. at 69th place in Woodside. Talk to Eugene, the proprietor. They specialize in, you guessed it, german cars: MBs mostly, as well as BMWs and the occassional Audi.

Where on 9th avenue did you see a shop? Do you recall the name?

Why would you go to a shop just because it exists on 9th ave? Find a good shop, not just the closest one.

Was German Cars formerly called Little BMW Shop? If it was, it was not recommended by another board member...

AFAIK, German Cars was never called Little BMW Shop. It would make little sense, becuase his single biggest customer base is MB owners, followed by BMW. My buddy has been taking his MB there since 2005 if not earlier and the name has always been German Cars or Gene's German Cars

That would certainly be convenient. if they are a good shop it would be great. If not I wouldn't take my car there! A good shop in Manhattan is what I'm looking for.

It's defiantly out of your way but ... Great Neck Autotech is who i recommend
they are the best shop esp when it comes to euros and vintage
they do all cars but most important is they don't rip you off
they are honest and their work is exceptional
i wouldn't say cheap ... because you get what you pay for ... don't try to save 50 bucks and have other stuff go wrong later on ... get it done right by the right people
they are about 30 mins traffic free from Manhattan

ps. his customers drive from ct and penn to get work done by them ... and often it's their regular cars they bring down as well ... My good friend owns a body/repair shop and is cheaper 'cause he's a good friend i may save sometime 100 bucks over Autotech but trust me ... it's not worth it ... they are like comparing gold vs silver
ask for val or john if you decide to go.
another note ... they are ALWAYS PACKED AND BUSY ... so expect to leave your car unless it's a small job
