Hi, im thinking to upgrade my car with a turbocharger. ive been told that i wont need to deal with an engine upgrade if i put a little turbine with 0.5bar. meaning that i cant afford a full turbo installation with all the upgrades in the actual engine, so it can handle the power. what do you think, is it real to have the little turbine on the stock condition of the car?

It depends on the history of the car, if it has been maintained well and not beat everyday it will probably be fine, I have been told that these cars can handle up to 9 P.S.I. and still be reliable daily drivers, I have seen stock e36 cars pushing 10 P.S.I. but I am not sure of the reliability and I am certainly no F.I. expert.

I don't think it would be a problem. I've seen m44 blocks stock with over 150k mi. pushing 15psi DASC. Your engine/trans mounts will be first to go over 9psi, then the clutch, various gaskets and seals. Once you've been through that, dropping the oil pan and putting in new pistons for added insurance will seem like any other day.

Mileage is irrelevant, if the car has not been well maintained it is going to unreliable.

The maintenance of the car has been kept on a high level. All the oil changes done on time. All parts changed on time. Its a daily driver but I aslo use it for racing on the weekends so its in great condition

Sounds like a solid car, I wouldn't think you have anything to worry about. I have been told that on a good engine you can even push 8 p.s.i. reliably, even 10 if its not a daily driver, I wouldn't do it personally but its what I've been told.
If you have any other F.I. questions I would direct them to the F.I. section of the website, there are alot of really intellegent F.I. experts in there that could answer your questions with much more detail than I.
Good luck and happy driving!
