So I spend 23 hours last weekend repainting the bumpers and skirts. I know, 23 hours? Yes, believe me, this is my 4th vehicle I've painted, the skirts took maybe an hour, the front bumper mostly, and rear, were rashed by the previous owner and I had more time than money for a m3 bumper from ddm (125 isn't bad, but the shipping was 90bux more). Anyways don't burn me on the job, I clear coated the bumpers too cold and it orange peeled a little. I managed to clear most of it with extra layers of clear coat and I haven't wet sanded and buffed them out either.
While I was at it, I figured why not paint a little something on the stock headlights? Bad idea, good theory, but bad outcome, the paint didn't stick right and I ended up just painting them black for a day until I could fix it. So I bought a set of angel eyes off a local friend for 150bux, I know its a little steep, but its better than what I had going on and didn't have to wait for them... Now my question is "does anyone know what these are?". He didn't know so I'm in the dark. The reason why I need to know is because the wiring is weird. I tried everything. First, all combination's of parking lamp hook-ups (starting with the one I know for sure should have worked), I did the fuse box accessory wire tap, simply hooked it up to a small motorcycle battery charger (just the angel eyes mind you). So after about 3 hours of messing with that I just hooked the headlights back up and installed just fine, they work like a charm. The weird thing is that in each halo are 4 wires, where u would usually have just 2, there is a white and a gray for each side of the halo, not just white on one side and gray on the other, sorry i don't have any pics, but 8 wires for the 2 halos. So these were all spliced together nice and neat in the one headlight I took apart and looked to be wired correctly (grays together, whites together). I unspliced all the wires and did the testing on just one halo and couldn't get it to work. What are the chances of me having all 4 bad? He said they worked just fine when he took them out, but I know how it can be bad luck to buy used bmw parts... Sorry for the long post, it's 2 in one! Like a Liger....or a Tigon...I'm done now.
