Is this normal?

94 325i Ragtop...The dash lights for the headlights are on all the time when the key is on. Also, the dimmer switch has no effect on these lights. All the rest of the dash lights react to the dimmer switch.

The lights were not there, so I pulled out the unit and found the bulb, replaced, and this is what I get. These have not worked since I bought the car and so I got the lights working, but it seems strange that they will not dim.

So, I ask...."Is this Normal"?

Yes, its normal, that way you can see the switch in the dark when you get in...I feel like they should dim but wiring it into the dimmer wouldn't work when the lights aren't on, so it wasn't made to dim at all.
