burning oil

I have a 1994 325i with 112,xxx Miles on it, lately I've noticed thats it's smoking oil from under the hood, nothing comes out from the exhaust...its clean there....
This is most noticible in the morning after its been sitting overnight and it's warmed up, when I open the hood looks like the smokes is coming somewhere from the underside (possibly manifold?).....ithe smoke seems to go away after about 30 min of driving, but that oil burning smell is always there and I've also noticed that If I really push the car ie....hard accelaration, high rpms then it really starts to smoke oil from under the hood...

anybody got any ideas?

check the valve cover gasket, mine leaks and drips small amonts of oil on the down pipe.

yep valve gasket, it is fairly easy fix, my buddies 95 e36 exactly the same problem.
