The brakes on my xiT feel much weaker than my 330i. Any possibility of retrofitting 330 brakes on the xiT? Would that mean I'd have to upgrade to 17" wheels too?
Would it be better to go after-market?
Any ideas of what this might cost?
Thanks!
I could be wrong but during my search into the 330 upgrade, I coulda sworn the ETK says the 325xiT US spec already uses 330 brakes. Though it doesn't explain the fact that they come with 16" wheels.
I'd check the diameter/thickness of the rotors to be sure. The 330's should be an inch larger in diameter

Interesting, maybe I'm just feeling the difference in weight between my step AWD wagon and my manual RWD sedan....Another 400 lbs or so to bring to a halt.

The xiT does NOT come with 330 brakes. :(
I think you're thinking of the 323iT, which came with 328 brakes.
You can retrofit 330 brakes onto the car, but the cost is enormous. I suggest trying a set of Axxis Ultimates, which will give you snappier response. Remember: the xiT can outbrake every tire I've ever put on it below 60MPH or so. The only time I've ever wanted bigger brakes is on the track, where those 120-50 stops DO showcase the weaker brakes.
If the car isn't going off the street, there's no real reason to upgrade. Sure, the 330 brakes FEEL better, but at quasi-legal speeds on the grippiest street tires made, you still won't stop any faster. And I bet you still have all seasons... I could trigger ABS with the original tires at speeds above 90MPH.
