View Full Version : Winter Tire Time?

Just curious about when everyone makes the switch from summer rubber to winter tires?? It was 0.0C this morning and I could hear the tires thunking along until they warmed up!
I seem to remember reading somewhere that summer tires are rated based on temperatures above 5C.
What is your opinion on this? :dunno:

If you're running summer tires and not all seasons, it's probably a decent time to swtich. If you're running all seasons you've probably got some time left.
I'm not sure about the temperature ratings on summer tires, but all it takes is a slight dip below 0 C and a bit of ice to ruin your day.

Got my new winter tires sitting in storage...Yokohama W.Drive. I plan on swapping them onto my stock rims before the 15th of November. I usually do the summer/winter switch in mid-November.
I do not do much night driving, so I do not have to worry too much about the lower temps just yet. (and the hockey pucks that the summers become at less that 7C.):bigpimp:
