go get some stuff cad "HEET". could be some water in tank from the gas station.
and 89 is too low. mine runs best on shell v-power. way more power and way better gas milage.
does the check engine light come on when you get to 3000 rpm? and does it feel like the car stalls?
or does it just not go above 3000. does it sound different, almost like its muffled. my cats plugged up a while ago and it wouldnt go over 3 grand on the tach and i had no power and it took me half a tank of gas to go an hour down the road.

I use 89 for my 540 and regular only (87?) for my 525.

I also had this problem.
Traction control works by closing a throttle plate at the intake manifold, it is operated by a actuator near the left side firewall and driven by a cable.
Turns out the last time the traction control was activated the throttle plate stuck in the closed position.
Remove the intake tubing in front of the intake manifold, look inside and see if the plate is in the open position, if not, budge it open with a wooden stick and clean out the bore. Or disconnect the cable, you will not have ASC anymore and the light on the dash will stay on.
It was a pain to find it, I was suspecting a blocked fuel pump. The symptoms were low power and would not rev past 3000rpm even in neutral, idle was fine and the engine ran smooth.
Good luck, jim
