I am not clear even after reading about the F01 whether it is replacing the 760li or it is a platform being used to build the 760li.

F01 in an internal code at BMW which replaces the current E65/E66.

They'll use F01 to build their 760 like they have done always in the past.

BMW won't start from scratch to build the new v12 760.

If you have been following the trend with BMW 7ER, you'll notice that every time the new production model is launched in 6 and 8 cylinders, and then after couple years they launch the V12 model.

In fact, the F01 chassis/background/knowledge will be used in Rolls Royce to attain economies of scale on a corporate level.
