10-23-2008, 08:09 PM
I just purchased a 1995 525i touring wagon with 12oK miles on it. the car runs fine but the engine light is on all the time.
how do I check for the code that tells me what the problem is?
does anyone have a list of codes?
How do you reset the service bar graph?
sorry about the multiple questions, this car is awsome

It is a ten to one shot that your light will go out if you replace the oxygen sensor. As for the codes, sorry... I do not have a list but others on this forum are more familiar with that then I am. :dunno:

Get in your car, put the key in position 2 and quickly press the gas pedal to the floor 5 times. (this is called the stomp test) The check engine light will blink a few times (or once depending on the code) pause for a second, blink again a few times...and so on. You need to count the blinks between pauses. For instance, the light blinks 3 times, pauses,4 times,pauses,2 times,pauses,5 times. then your code is 34 25. Do this (a few times to make sure you got it right) then post the results on here and I can look them up for you.
