Thks guys! Wish I could get 20%...WA allows 35%. :(
On my sedan, I have 35% on the front side windows and 20% on my rear side windows & back window . . .
It's not too bad though I don't have the privacy I used to have . . .

Yes, most places will be happy to do that, but do you have vehicle inspections? That might make you reconsider.

No vehicle inspections in this state, just emissions testing,Melissa.

Well, only 3 days til my appt. and I'm back to "undecided" for 35% or 20%...after tinting my garage windows (they all face the sun, and my car products would get baked on certain times of the afternoon) and noticing how dark the garage is inside, I'm wondering if I'll turn into a mushroom during the rainy winter months inside a 20% tinted car!
Help me decide.
Post "20%" or "35%" and I'll go with the majority opinion. :)

20% is way too dark, and you risk getting a ticket AND having to remove it.

Yeah, my "common sense" side of me keeps yelling "35%".

20%!! Especially since your car is black. I think 35% looks too light on a black car. Also it's a lot easier to see out of a tinted car than in.

...and 20% just looks too dark to me.
Look at Alan's 20% all around again:

20% is just too dark and the car gets that ghetto look (sorry guys, just MNSHO).
I don't think there is much more benefit in going darker other than "privacy" but I doubt that you need to hide what you're doing in your car Rip. If heat rejection is your goal take a look at this Formula One tint comparo (http://formulaone.com/data.html) and you'll see that in their Premier series there is only 6% difference between 35 and 20%. As long as you go with good reputable company you'll be fine with 35%.

Hi Ripsnort,
Hope this helps. I have 38% on front and 18% on the back. I've been very happy with the level of light transmission and never been stopped by the police.
And, I don't think it looks too :bling:

Thks Chip.
I've got 3 days to decide...since we only get about 50 days of sunshine a year here, I may stay lean toward 35% all the way around.
It's a tough choice but you need to figrue out why you want the tint . . .
For privacy, 20% is the way to go, for the look 35% is fine.
When I was younger and up to no good, I NEEDED 20% :D
Now that I am older 35% is good

Good advice as usual. 50% of me wants it to block the heat, and as mentioned, I don't gain much going 20% from 35%...the other 50% of me wants it for visuals, black on black just looks wicked! This coming from someone who's not easily impressed by wasting money on mods!
I'm leaning 35% tint today...

I know your not a modder . . . remember when I wanted you to buy my clears . . .
35% is very good, keep in mind one thing, with the 35% people will see in a little bit but the black interior will give it a darker look then most cars with 35%
20% seriously is too dark plus at night it will be hard to see out the back window . . .

Put me down for 35% Rip. I, too, don't like too dark of a tint on a black car and 20% is just too dark and increases your chance for a ticket.
Whenever my 330 shows up the first stop is the tint shop to put 35% all the way around. Friend has a 530 w/ the same level of tint and it looks awesome. I also heard a black interior will also give it the illusion of a darker tint.

Rip,
I went to 2 tint places and got some samples of the tint I want and I just finished putting them on. This may be something you can look into before deciding but let me tell you picking how dark you want to go is only a start. I have 4 samples of 35% and still can't decide.
Also somebody mentioned before that it will look much darker on black interior and this is definitely the case with mine, 35% looks almost too dark.

The light makes a lot of difference and it looks even darker in photos. I've seen pics of your car just after you tinted it but would like to see them again if you don't mind posting...

DAMN, this guy has done some cars owned by famous people!(8X10's on the wall with aforementioned posing) Actors and Sports stars alike! He and his brother have owned this place, since 1985. His most "expensive" car he did was a $200,000 Rolls Royce.
Odd, he said "you can use any alcohol-based window cleaner"...(Shrugs)
Anyway, couple of pictures before and after pics (35%) tinting

Rip,
What is the name of that Llumar tint you got? It looks like Llumar is the choice for a BMW, many people on the board chose it and even my local dealer recommended installer that uses it.
I have my choice narrowed to 35% 3M and that Llumar.
