Just plunked down $5,050 for extended warranty CPO to cover my car to 100,000 miles or 6/2012 (whatever comes first) and extended maintenance plan to 100,000 miles or 6/2010. Now I got piece of mind:p:p My car is now 45,500 miles and I have not had any issues except for changing all tires at 39,000. The extension on the warranty was $3,375.00 and the extension on the maintenance plan was $1,675. I was told that the maintenance plan is worth it when it comes time to do your brakes. A brake job could run up $1,400.00. However my IDrive still shows that my front pads have an additional 30,000 miles of life and my rear pads still have 27,000 miles left on them.

Yes. If you are keeping your car for a long time. My service advisor showed me that these prices are set by BMW and there is no room for negotiation. I'm planning to keep my car for many years.

You talk to your service advisor. From what I understand, these contracts are sold from the service department at your dealer.

does the extension of your warranty cover bumper to bumper? same as your original factory warranty? or is it just major stuff like engine, transmission, etc?

So it's basically extending to 100k/6 year from the original 50k/4 year for $3,375?

(i already have my maintenance warranty extended to 100k at the time of the purchase.)

Supredopefresh. Go to Peterpan BMW in San Mateo and get the warranty there. It was the cheapest place I found when I was buying it for my 7 series.

Sorry guy, I had a brain far earlier. I purchased the extended maintanence, not the warranty.

dont forget there's a co-pay with the extended warranties that affects the actual cost. the 250 co was 3350 for me and 2000 for the maintance.

Huh, so everytime you bring in your car for warranty, you have to pay $250 extra to get it fixed?

Most warranties are negotiable. Just like when buying a car-msrp vs. invoice.
I'd shop around, you should be able to get @ least a 20% discount.

Where's the cheapest place to buy the extended mait. warranty?

I just bought a '06 E90 w/ 40k miles and bought the mait. plan. Shooped around. Here is a link to dealer cost and MSRP: http://blogs.edmunds.com/strategies/...-concerns.html

Here are my findings from calling around. I called the ones posters here recommended. Definitely some variables in pricing.

Walter BMW in LA -- $1525 (no tax)
Nalley BMW in GA -- $1495 (no tax)
Sterling BMW in VA -- $1550 + tax
Peterpan BMW in CA -- 1700 + tax
Vista BMW in FL -- $1750 (laughable)
Century BMW in SC -- $1450 (No Tax)
Spoke to Stan Ashmore (864) 335.3701

I am considering the extended warranty thru Carchex but i"ve had such bad luck that i wonder if i should just put the money in a money market fund or something. In the past with a company called Fidelity my experience was that they replaced small items i.e. water pumps, window motors etc but when i had real engine issues they found loopholes to deny claim. I guess peace of mind dont come cheap. Any ways good luck and hopefully you wont need it

search the boards, a dealer sponsor on here is selling them for like $100 or $200 over msrp which is cheaper than $1695

Anyone know of the best/cheapest place to get a warranty these days? I have about 8K miles left on my factory warranty and I want to purchase an extended warranty. I search the boards for the dealers selling warranty but I was unable to find one here. I'm kind of green to the board here, so forgive my ignorance if I missed it.

I am also looking to purchase the maintenance plan as well.

Thanks!

I just got brakes done for the first time last week and it cost me just that.
900 for front pads and rotors and 300 for rear pads.

Posted a warranty question here:

http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/showthread.php?p=4612780#post4612780

Any help / recommendations about how to handle this situation would be very helpful. I own both the CPO / extended as well as the extended maintenance.

I will be *very* displeased if my clutch is not covered, as I believe the rep said it was at the time.
