So I searched and searched and found a lot of posts on different years and models for this particular job. However I did not find a detailed DIY. So here it is. This has gotten rid of the electrical gremlin in my middle console, it has helped my auto air conditioning work much faster. It is easy as a mo-fo too. By the way any damage you do to your own car by following these instructions is your own fault not mine.

1) I used a flat head screw driver from a eye glass repair kit, NOS energy drink, a portion of a can of air, some di-electric grease (lube) and my camera :P

First go into your car you will see a cover above you cup holders with your flathead screw driver pry that out gently so you don't scratch the plastic.

When you have that out push the button controls for your ASC, rear sunshade and whatever else you have out by placing a finger against the back of the control module and push.

Now that you have those out put a finger in the holes you made and push against the back of the HVAC control unit.

You will notice that it pops right out it is held in there by a clip on each side.

You will see 4 connection that are connected to the back of the HVAC unit gently pull those off and you will now see this.

Take the HVAC control unit to your work area with your small flat head. You will see 8 clips, 4 on the bottom and 4 on the top. With your small flat head gently pry the plastic face over the clips to get the face off.

Now that you have the face off you can see the mess that little fan has created. Now slide that circuit board right out.

Now that you have the circuit board out you can see how the fan pulls in the air through the front of the HVAC control unit. Clean all that up, I used a can of air and a clean cloth. Now you can take the fan off by pulling straight up, it is held on by a magnet.

Clean all that up and if you want get some di-electric grease (lube) and put it around the bottom of the fan that connects to the circuit board. This way it will grease what ever bearings are in there if there is any. Anyhow do the exact opposite to put it back together and your electrical gremlin in your middle console should be solved.
