Yes, I know I've been full of questions over the past week, and every time I fix one thing it just reveals that it was masking another one.

The next thing up on the list of things to fix is the convertible top. Previous owner said that the motor for the lid was dead, so he'd pulled the lever to release both motors, and he showed me how to re-engage the motor for the top itself and the linkage for the cover latch (which I thought was re-engaging that motor too). I've verified that the top motor works fine (manually open the lid, hit switch, top comes up), and without realizing that the lid motor wasn't engaged, tried the resync sequence.

I heard the lid motor running (and since my trunk interlock doesn't work, was able to feel it to verify that it was the one spinning), which tells me that it's not actually dead, but I can't get it to re-engage; I reach around the back side and pull the motor towards me and it just catches. I can feel the gear so I'm pretty sure I'm pulling in the correct direction.

Obviously the next step is to remove the whole assembly so I can get a better look at it -- but before I start down that road, is there something I'm missing? A required step for re-engaging that motor? Found a couple of posts that talked about stripped gears, is this a symptom of that?

Oh - and while I can move the gear a little by hand, it's very hard to turn and it doesn't seem to help; I've probably turned it an eighth of a turn over four or five attempts.
