So..
as you all can see below, i have a 318is.
honestly... its noo doing it for me anymore.
handles aweseome.
but the automaticness? and the 4bangerness? really not keeping me on the edge of my seat anymore, so to speak.
anyway.
ive been looking around.
and ive found >>THIS CAR<< (http://www.uniquecarsales.com.au/pls/carsales/!unique_content.enquiry?current_rec=15&page_number=2&vehicle_id=6071254&total_rec=17&sort_type=1&make_id=13&price_max=20000&body_id=9&keywords=black)
its a great price for a 328i convert manual in aust.
my questions are: is white leather standard?
can anyone note any other mods to this car?
also, what does 'Highline' mean? and what are the differences between a highline 328i and a non highline 328i????

I'm a bmw tech and I have never come across any bmw labelled high-line before.. :dunno:
Looks like a very nice car. The only thing I will point out is that it is a convertable, they are a bit heavier than the coupes and are not as balanced, not to mention a moving top means more parts to maintain. But then again it is very nice to cruise with the wind in your hair!
Just my two cents.

'Highline' was a 635CSI and 7 series trim wasn't it????
I believe that 'highline' means top of the range

The seats aren't white. They are very light grey. This was called "dove grey" through '95. It may have a different name on the 96+ models.
And make sure you get better pictures of those seats. The drivers side bolster looks pretty worn. With a vert the seats will be on full display so it may be worth considering. Something like that would drive me nuts.
It's a nice conversion. He even changed the steering wheel which I don't think was mentioned.

I agree with your desire to upgrade from the autotragic 4-banger, but you'd have to be a retard to spend $19,000 on a 328i. You could spend half as much and have a nice M3. Or you could spend about $14k and have a very very nice M3.

That looks really nice!
He sure has some shine on that paint!
In Australia (I'm an aussie) there is a 100% wholesale price import duty on imported cars.
This was introduced in the late '60's under the pretence of stemming the flood of cheap Japanese vehicles sending the local big three, G.M. Ford and Chrysler, from going ****-up.
G.M. Ford and Chrysler had their own plants with their own locally designed and manufactured product, kind of like Opel and Ford in Europe.
Anyway, this brought your Datsun 510 (Datto 1600) in line pricewise with the equivalent locally made product.
The ass-biter here though is, as the price of Japanese cars rose, in line with other quality imports like Mercedes and BMW the local boys could jack their price, in effect 100% to 'keep up' and the aussie car buying public were completely screwed.
And still are.
Exchange rate has nothing to do with it.
20K in Aussie is the same chunk of change as 20k in the U.S., spent locally that is.
They do have better beer and beaches though....:D

Damn, that really sucks.
Well, what if an Aussie Fester had a friend in the US who wanted to ship him a car as a "gift?"
Would he have to pay some hellacious import tax in that case?

LOL!! :beerchug:
if not - id have to pay to convert it to right hand drive. and get a fvcking compliance plate.
anyway, the exchange rate at the moment is about 67cents (AUD) for the 1 US Dollar.
so basically...
if i found a car for 20000 in Aust, the same car would be about 13400 in USA.
lame.
stupid exchange rate.
