The only thing it will cost you is your time...
I happen to be the Treasurer of the Board of Directors of Central Nassau Guidance and Counseling Services, a non-profit organization that provides clinical treatment, rehabilitation, housing opportunities, social and support services, counseling and guidance to individuals, families and the community affected by mental illness, psychological difficulties, developmental disabilities, addiction and/or chemical dependency problems.
Throughout the year we organize various fundraisers such as Runday, a 5K run which is part of the Long Island Grand Prix series and sanctioned by USA Track & Field, and our annual Golf Outing, held at the Town of Oyster Bay golf course.
This coming June, the U.S. Open Championship Golf Tournament is returning to Bethpage State Park and Central Nassau has accepted an offer to man a food concession tent (with volunteers) at the tournament from June 15th to June 21st. This opportunity should generate $15,000 - $17,000 (perhaps more) for the agency as well as increased exposure for the agency.
Each volunteer will receive a ticket into the Open on the day they are working, free parking, and free food at the concession. Each volunteer will be expected to work a 6-7 hour shift but can wanderer the golf course before or after their shift. (We only receive payment for those who sign in under Central Nassau and complete their shift.)
Shifts will run each day (Monday -Sunday) from:
6:00 am - 2:00 pm
9:00 am - 4:00 pm
12:00 pm - Close
