Previously it was said the new Z4 will be at the Paris Auto Show....but never showed up...then they said it was expected at the LA auto show..... (see article)
http://www.motorauthority.com/video-2010-bmw-z4-high-speed-testing.html
just went on the LA autoshow website ..... and the new Z4 is not on it
http://www.laautoshow.com/Debuts.aspx
with the global economy being the way it is......i am thinking that we wont see the new Z4 until late 2010 as a 2011 MY
what do you think??

The reason for the Znot being there was for legal reasons.... sDrive35 (what it will be named) apparently was held by Yokohama.
I recently wrote about it:

I just can't completely buy that - if BMW had a car ready, any version, they could've shown it - it would've been no big deal to hide the S drive bit.
As for the marketing materials, who gives a crap, all we want is to see the car, we don't need no stinking brochures at this point.

Ed in all honesty you need to realize that just is not how the world works; they are going to release a car with no name? You can't be serious. They are going to have a giant press launch and no name... great idea, sounds like something GM would do. BMW just put it on ice for a while until it is sorted out.
They can't show it as the cars name is legally someone else's and there is an injunction. There is no way they can show it. (period)
That is the reason and I verified it across sources.

I am seriousy PISSED.
I am heading to LA tomorrow, and primarily decided to go to see the new Z. Great, $700 in flights and hotels.
Who gives a $%^K about "sdrive35" it is stupid, pointless, means nothing, just like xdrive35 etc. I would remove the badge immediately.
Clearly an example of when marketing toolboxes take over. I know the marketing ultimately determines the success of the car, because us enthusiasts are much to small a % to bother with ensuring the purists are happy, but whatever.
OK, thats my rant for the day, need to go drink some wine in Sonoma, I am sure there will be plenty other stuff to see in LA!

Still on track to be released before the holidays, just a bit delayed. I know several people that have seen the car in production form without cladding. Who knew there was an issue with the naming rights... BMW did not even pick up on that one.
I saw it with no cladding under a thin sheet; I could see the lines and all that ... it looked hot even with a sheet!
Going to be a major step for BMW in the segment. Ideally it was to launch with the Boxter and Cayman updates, November 5th was the original date.
Looks like we will get the info on Sunday the 14th and the 15th should be the official launch. BMW has even put up an interesting countdown.

I agree that it will definitely be like all the Z cars, best looking in the flesh rather than photographed. Feeling jealous of those at the unveiling...
