Hi, where are my best chances of finding an opthamologist or eye specialist ASAP or 1st thing in the am?

My friend was in a major car accident yesterday but released from the hospital pretty shortly with some stitches.

Now she is experiencing blurred vision in 1 eye and pain from any light. There is also some redness in that eye (and earlier throbbing pain behind the eye which has since gone away).

I googled and found the NY Eye & Ear Infirmary which claims it is open 24hrs but no one is answering the phone now. I fear going there or any ER will just mean a 3 to 4+ hr wait to see a specialist.

I went to the Aetna docfinder and there are 500+ opthamologists in NYC.

So:
How can I find an appointment with an eye care specialist ASAP for the morning?

Try Dr. Patrick Clancy in Mahwah. I'm not sure how close you are to him, it's in Bergen County. His number is (201) 818-4600. I have no affiliation, but he's top notch. He saved my vision in an emergency a few years back. Good luck!!!

Thanks for the reply. We have been waiting at the NY Eye & Ear Infirmary since the am, despite it being classified as an "emergency" case... hopefully this wait will pay off in terms of scheduling all the followups with a Dr in the city
